If the bluetooth isn't worth a crap at least it's a cool looking helmet.

I'll be interested to see how it works. Not too convinced by the specs though. I use the BlueAnt Interphone system which works great. Bike to bike up to 500 ft and at faster than highway speeds. Up to 10 hrs talk time (phone use); 5 hrs talk time (intercom use); Up to 700 hrs standby time. Wind noise only seems to be an issue if you're using the phone portion at 70+. But if you don't want the little transmitter on the outside of your helmet then that's a different story.

Bluetooth 1.2 .. does that include A2DP (stereo) ?

I already purchased an RF-1100 that will be my main helmet for the next few years, but am interested to see how some of the BT integrated helmets perform. Looks like to get A2DP I'll have to upgrade my Scala FM to the Q2.

Yes it is a full featured unit. As for the 30ft. range I think it is spec'd that way because Bluetooth was originally intended to be a 10 meter personal area network. I have some Motorola bluetooth over-the-ear style headphones with the same spec, and the range is at least 100ft.

So we shall see... I'm thinking I might be able to put in a bigger battery or maybe just charge it off the bike at fuel/food stops. My headphones last a lot longer when listening to music as opposed to using the phone.

Stay tuned!

It's Thermoplastic. Keep it out of direct sunlight.

Well, the verdict is in on the Vcan bluetooth helmet.

The bluetooth part actually works well... BUT: it only has ONE speaker. It streams both left and right channels, but it bridges it into mono. Nowhere in the description of the helmet does it say this. It's a total deal breaker for me.

Let's talk about the helmet itself for a moment.

It is hands-down the lowest quality helmet I have ever had the displeasure to put my hands on. The padding is thin and flimsy. The graphics were crooked, and the entire helmet is lopsided. The vents are made of very thin flimsy plastic that actually makes a rattling noise at various speeds. The vents were mounted to the helmet off-center. Also, the helmet does not feel strong enough to protect my melon in a crash. Also, the rubber "breath guard" in the front had a strong chemical smell that gave me a headache. It was barely attached so I pulled it out.

I'm sending it back to Amazon.com from whence it came.

My recommendation to everyone is this: Stay away from Vcan brand helmets, with or without bluetooth. They're very poorly constructed from cheap materials. The bluetooth module "Blinc" works pretty well as a phone headset, if you don't mind it being mono. The music sound quality sucks.

Oh well it was worth a try. Once I get my refund I'll buy something different and post up about it.

I recommend writing a product review so others don't fall into the same trap

Yeah, I just posted the review on Amazon. We'll see if they actually let it go up. There were zero other reviews on this abortion of a helmet and it's sold and shipped by Amazon.

I thought Amazon tested all the products they sell... not sure where I got that idea, but there is no way they did any testing on this thing... it's horrible all the way around.

Froggy, I'm curious as to why Admiral Akbar is up there... because of the "trap" comment? Or maybe because his head looks like a lopsided helmet??
