Here is why I ask..back in november i found a dealer that claimed i could ORDER a new 2010 scg...well the dealer called a month later and said NONE of the 2010 bikes they took a deposit on had shipped. BUT they found out that buell had 'factory demos' on their site for sale...and dealers could buy them...brand new, never titled, but these were bikes that maybe quality had pulled to test drive etc. they disclosed miles on them and the warranty, which was 2 years from date of MANUFACTURE...so..for example..the 2010 scg i bought, had 23 miles on it...was made march 2009(and yes its a 2010 model) and the dealer sold it to me for $6k...i was thrilled of course. but m 2 year warranty ends march 2011 and i just got the bike last month (was on vacation, dealer held it for me and delivered when i got back). anyhow..i'm happy and thrilled even though in effect i only get a 1 year warranty. bike was delivered with 23 miles on the odo as advertised...i've only ridden it twice, now the weather has finally turned some here in indy...have 77 miles on it....but anyhow the deal was buell would NOT ship bikes so dealers had to drive up and pick up the bikes and the guy i talked to said when they went up there...there was like 200 bikes left in the warehouse...and just a skeleton crew there to allow dealers to pick up bikes. i also read a rumor that the buells intended to ship to europe were updated with american instruments and sold this way here. but seems fishy that 2010 models ORDERED by dealers who had deposits just didnt ship and the dealers had to go get the bikes. also, the dealer i went thru said they had several hd employees call them to get these deals because it was cheaper than their buell discount...and the guys literally drove down from milwaukee to get these buells from dealer in indiana because they were so cheap. |

I think many orders or reserves at the end on what was produced didn't happen. I didn't get one I tried for. I can't say I understand the cut warranty either in the case of those few ex demo fleet 2010 models. I've never heard of the dealers having to go pick them up themselves either. Sounds like a tale being spun. I'm sure someone here can give accurate info regarding your questions. Having fun with it? I know I am with mine. Going to take some time to acclimate to it's characteristics. You got yours for a grand less than my city-x so you got a pretty good deal. Did yours have any sticker/emblem on the triple clamp? Mine doesn't and the 09 that was on the floor at the time didn't either so I thought maybe they stopped putting any on. |

H-D made a real mess out of closing down Buell right from the Start by doing it so suddenly as they just wanted to get rid of them. They didn't want to make any money on them as they were closing Buell as a $245 million loss from the company. Fire sale prices on everything Buell first come first served. They wanted to make a point to H-D employees and Union workers as to what the company could do to them for shock value. The H-D board of directors used Buell to make a point by closing it down. There are still a lot of Buell motorcycles sitting at Buell Dealers that are brand new but you have to look for them as they are running out. With Buell closed up and gone I still wonder why the harley-davidson dealers still have the Buell logo's up at most dealerships? Hey why didn't you buy the 3 year extended warranty from H-D when you brought the bike since it was brand new never titled from the dealer? |

I'm not a big fan of extended warranties on most anything. i did ask about it but the price seemed insane... i do suspect though..that i may get lucky and get the full 2 year warranty from date of purchase...i dunno how they would not give it to me. but the dealer said the factory 'demo' bikes had their warranty 'activated' when the factory pulled them from normal inventory and used them for tests or whatever. i suspect mine was an early 2010 build and they pulled it to check out the 2010 changes...spun it around the test track a few times then parked it. === H-D made a real mess out of closing down Buell right from the Start by doing it so suddenly as they just wanted to get rid of them. This is not news, it does not belong in the news section. I am moving this to the quick board. |

" Yes mine has the sticker showing vin number and date of manufacture. " No, not the frame vin sticker, the one on the handle bar clamp.

This thread really brings up the point- it sure seems like the decision to kill Buell ~3 months into a new model year was completely bone-headed. You've already designed all the upgrades, you've already purchased whatever new tooling was required, the 2010 models are in full production, and you've already started the new ad campaign. Why not finish the year out? Make the announcement that this will be the last year for Buell and make an effort to drive up demand for the bikes. Offer smaller price incentives until you get down to the last few bikes and THEN blow them out. I suspect that with a little time to think about it a lot more people would have snagged 2010 Buells. HD is really run by a bunch of maroons... |

The reason you only have a partial warranty is because your motorcycle is what's called a COV - Company Owned Vehicle, i.e. corporate demo bike. Despite the 23 miles, the bike was pulled from the build run for a reason - whether it was a test mule, a press bike, or going to be on the demo truck. They never actually get "titled", but the warranty term is activated because the bikes are going to see usage. Most of the "available demos" that have popped up are deactivated COVs, not "new production" bikes that were "found", or re-routed from foreign markets. And Hugh - your scenario forgets one thing. Many dealers had leftover '09s, '08s, and even '07s and '06s. Yes, your idea would drive up sales for '10s....but the older bikes would still languish. Blanket discounting would (and has) virtually guarantee floor space for cruisers, regardless of model year. |

Ratbuell- Good point. Amazing that there are still left-over bikes like that. I wouldn't be surprised if there are still new tubers out there. So, are there any COV 2010 Uly's available? |

I love my 2010 XT. I just wish I could have afforded a new CR at the same time. I guess I'll just have to pick up a used one in a few years. I wanted both, but could only have one. Did I say I love my XT? And I don't like Mr. Wandell. |

Hugh, I suppose I could be wrong, but I think I might have snagged the last 2010 COV Uly. With only 23 made, it was the only one I could find. I picked it up about 2 months ago with 767 miles on it. I love it! I paid $800.00 less than I would have for the brand new '09 I kept walking by at the dealership for 6 months before finally deciding to pull the trigger. |
