last year the potus gave vets a stimulus check. as far as i know it was vets who were receiving disability checks. and i think some other people were getting them also. well after going in to see the tax guy on saturday to try and get more for my return i managed to do alright. but when they tried to e-file it got rejected because of this stimulus check from last year that they just don't consider it income to be taxed they take it right out of your tax return. so now my tax return is 250.00 less than what i thought i was going to get. no, 250 isn't an awful lot for some but i wouldn't just throw it out the window especially trying to catch up the 6 months my wife was out of work and unable to collect unemployment. and for those on unemployment, you can't tell me you wouldn't mind a few extra bucks. now thanks to the potus, only god knows how many thousands of vets have just been screwed over by our illustrious leader. 2012 can't come quick enough much less november. what did they used to call people like him years ago, snake oil salesmen. |

I found this, do either of these conditions apply to you? http://2009stimuluscheck.net/2009/07/will-the-250- 2009-stimulus-check-have-to-be-paid-back/ |

so it's not even a stimulus check, it's a loan for most people. if it was considered income like an unemployment check is, that's one thing but when it goes against your taxes, that's another. it's not always easy to come up with deductions for your tax return, then have a good chunk taken away because of some measly loan. |

I feel ya Nevr, $250 makes a lot of peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches; buys a lot of Ramen; or puts a lot lot of fuel in a motorcycle's tank. |

I lost some money due to Pension money received from USF. Hell they even taxed our cell phone allowance! I need every dime now that the kid is almost here. That $250 would pay for a new floor in the kids room. It's the principal! |

$250 is nothing. Remember the Bush tax cut when tom dashle said $400 extra to most middle class didnt amount to much more than a new muffler. He and another astute politician held up mufflers outside in public to protest the tax cut. $250 is scraps to our elite politicians but it goes a long way for us common folk. |

this was one for vets and people on social security. and although i really din't pay attention about the money from bush, but i don't recall the 600 from being knocked off of income tax return back then. |

The first $800 one back in 2002 or 03 had to be reported on your taxes. The second $600 was not taxable. This one is bizarre because for some people it upped their taxes and others it didn't hurt at all. It depended on whether or not you itemized. |

I'm in the luxurious position of having paid off my mortgage, which means I don't have to work so much. Madame earns a decent wedge so I work half-time, & under the French system, as we declare jointly, we don't make enough to pay income tax. The gouvernement empty my pockets in other ways though. |

The government can't give to someone unless it first takes from someone else. |

That means there is going to be a lot of taken when the bill shows up for the stimulus package |

I just got my first paycheck. 35% was withheld in taxes. Not sure how much will be recovered at tax time but I am not hopeful. |
