He did, I don't have a tuber, but like Court I have parts books for bikes I never owned. Anyway page 78 of the 2002 X1 parts book shows the tail light assembly, but doesn't list the screws. It shows them as part of the tail light, so I can't even pull a part number to check the size.

My guess is that the bolt is long and skinny with an SAE pitch. : )

Actually it's a Pan head sheet metal screw.

4MM x 32MM is what it measures.

#8 x 1-1/4 is the closest inch/imperial size.

Gotta love tubers, mix & match.
Basic rule of thumb (with exceptions of course). If it's on the motor itself or Frame it's imperial. If it's any outsourced part such as lights, switches, carb etc, it's metric.
More or less anyway, it gives you a starting point in your search.
You at least know which scrap bin to go delving in for that elusive fastener.

Froggs,

You have this tail light on your Blast!

The funny thing about these screws is they are not listed in the hardware section of the parts book.

The newest number I have for said screws is Y0401C.2
But the above description of pan head screws should work, it is almost like a wood screw and that is wat created threads in the plastic...

Thanks GUYS!!!!

I am heading to the hardware store this morning..

The tail light was the ONLY thing holding me up... go figure two tiny screws for a cover would be the ONLY thing... ohh well easy fix I guess.

Thanks again for ALL the help.
Matt.

My Blast parts book has a different number for the tail light, 68108-96Y for the X1, Y0401.D for Blast.

How old is your Blast book compared to the X1 book Froggy? Maybe the X1 pn is the old number and the Blast has the new pn?

Glad you've got what you need Matt, nothing left to do but the horn huh?

My X1 book is 02, my Blast books are 03 and 05. Both Blast books have the same number.
