I got all the releases and the 'inside dope' from Harley and am still working out where to run it. I'm ambivalent about the whole thing. Part of me says - It's been done and employing new tech just to go further, and to keep pushing it till someone dies is a bit well, Darwin. Part of me says it's brave and entertaining and what people want. Dunno. Interested in your comments.

OK longest jump BY A HARLEY Fastest quarter mile time BY A HARLEY Fastest XR1200 in a race of XR1200s dunno - kinda weird. I guess Harley wins. It IS impressive that a quarter ton of motorcycle can do that jump. Kinda like the circus act with the dancing dogs and ponies - it's not that they can dance well, what's amazing is that they can dance at all.

World's longest motorcycle jump is near double that at 346', just 20 shy of double. http://www.worldrecordsacademy.org/sports/longest_ motorcycle_jump_world_record_set_by_Robbie_Maddiso n_80176.htm

Bubba Blackwell always did his jumps on a XR750 NOT a 1200 cc Harley! I personally don't care for the motorcycle jumping craze!

if harley built that bike, with the knobbies, lit it for street use, and sold it at what they were murdering the Buells for.... I would be back in their dealership again. Until then... they can deal without my support.

I like what he's done to that XR. Taking inspiration from Ft bstrd's post, I think he should jump 20 short buses next.

Next, I think he ought to attempt jumping the corporate losses.

Y'all sound a bit miserable today. Why not get on your Buell, do better, and show Seth how lame he really is?

Reg: that's hilarious. I can just see him warming up over the looming interest payment.

If HD really wants a record for advertising purposes, they could strap Wandell on a bagger, wind it up as fast as it will go,(82mph), and send it over the Grand Canyon...

I'd rather not waste any Buells in this particular effort, after all the record they are looking for is longest jump on an HD...

I think it would worth a sacrifice of one Buell for Wandell to make the jump.

Judging by the video, it looks like at least a dozen spectators turned out to witness this historic event! HellBuelly J

>>Judging by the video, it looks like at least a dozen spectators turned out to witness this historic event! << It did get a lot of main stream media attention locally - front page news on the Sydney daily newspapers eg. Mission accomplished on that front.

Let Buell show you the way in every way, cut them off and stand in their place. Thievery. Whatever, HD.

Years ago I had a friend that took a 35mph turn at 85mph. The frame of his bike tipped the ground and he hit the guard rail. He then broke off three Sapling trees and then hit the rock embankment. Then the bike hit him and flipped them back out in the roadway. Six months later he had the bike running again (he was a bike mechanic and builder back before it was cool) he took a pare of sheet metal sheers and cut the cast off his leg and then took the bike out for a ride. He said that it scared him a little, until he went back through that turn going through at 110mph. It was a mid 70's Super glide. "If HD really wants a record for advertising purposes, they could strap Wandell on a bagger, wind it up as fast as it will go,(82mph), and send it over the Grand Canyon..." I Just don't get it (82mph) (Message edited by patches on March 06, 2010)

82 mph was an INSULT, insinuating that the corporate monkeys in Milwaukee have no idea what people like me want in a motorcycle, from a guy who's had the same HD since Feb. 1977, (a 67 FLH), and who will never buy another HD as long as I live.

Bit of a Non-story to my mind, I'd much rather see somebody jumping a bus over a load of Harleys, something like this.
