Well I have been wanting this gun for a while. Its the Taurus Judge, public defender. Its one of those guns you just want to have in your collection. I picked it up this morning. Unfortunately I am leaving for Texas tomorrow so I won't have time to shoot it be for I leave but I will when I get back. I am going to go out and pick up as many different kinds of 410 ammo that I can and see what shoots the best. There are a couple of pics to see for comparison. It is about the same length as my XD-40, and about a half inch longer than my snub nose 38.
When your looking at ammo, look for buck shot. I think it is single O buck shot. It has three pieces of lead that I have seen come out of those pistols in a straight line up and down. A very good pattern for self defense. Aim for the chest and you get head and gut as a bonus.
Yeah, neat gun. Watch the rear sight flop around....... and the second recoil input as the bolt slams the recoil stop lug. I use to shoot IHMSA silhouettes with one. When new, they were about $400.00(?). Sudden Impact instantly ran the price up. Easily $2,000.00 to $2,500.00 nowadays for good ones.
Went to a gun show this morning... found out that both the big local gun store as well as the internet are significantly cheaper than these shows... which begs the question, how do these people stay in business?
I went with the intention of making a deal on a Kel-Tek PF9 for concealed carry, as well as a Smith and Wesson 22A for target shooting.
There were a handful of the 22a's, ranging from $240 to $270. They are on sale at the gun store for $219.
There was one PF9. The guy was asking $325 for it. MSRP is $300, and they can be had online for $260. I worked him down to $310, and since they are on back order most places I decided to go for it. But, then he didn't take credit cards , and the ATM topped out at $200. His loss I guess, I'll just wait for a deal.
I did almost leave with a SCCY 9mm:
The price was right, at $259, and it appeared to be the perfect size (just a hair larger than the Kel-Tek)... but I googled for reviews (buddies smart phone) and they all came back terrible. Too bad! I really liked the thing.
The Kimber custom II is my normal carry gun that I love. The Sig p238 is a gift from the IRS.lol It will be my new carry gun. I have yet to shoot it but man it is nice. Sorry for the crap picture and dirty silverware. LOL
That's a great looking 10/22. I bought a nicely setup Savage Arms 22 rifle, but regret not ponying up the dough for the 10/22.
Since I'm dying to contribute to this thread (Thursday will be another trip to the gun store, I've got my fingers crossed!) I'll add another gun on my short list:
Snub Nose 9mm
I love the little snub nose revolvers, but I'm not a big fan on 38 special or 357 mag. This one is 9mm, so I can buy ammo in bulk since it's the same for most of my handguns.
Went to the big pawn shop today, and was incredibly disappointed. They had about 10 hand guns, which was what I expected, but the prices were about the same as if they were new. They actually had a few I would have been interested in, but they would have needed to be about $100 less.
