Anybody ever used one? Are they comfortable? I live in Chicago so I get weather extremes 20s in the winter 80-90 in the summer with peaks and valleys in the temp daily, sometimes hourly. So I need a helmet that can protect from both. BTW I have a round head so a narrow helmet isn't good. Any insight will be appreciated. | ||

I have one and I like it. The only problem I have with it is there is a little lip on the back of the helmet right at the bottom. This lip is always getting caught on my leather jacket. It causes a minor annoyance. I'm sure this partially has to do with how my jacket fits over my shoulders but I don't understand the need for that lip on the back of the helmet. It seems as if it's there for looks only. Maybe there is some aerodynamic purpose to it but I don't think I have seen it on other helmets. | ||

I love mine - comfy, and stylish to boot  It is quiet and although I don't ride much below 45 never been cold. I have ridden above 90 degrees and it is not unbearable. I guess you could say a nice balance between quite and airflow. (Message edited by nipsey on February 24, 2010) | ||

I had a RF-1000. I liked it because it was lighter than the other helmets I tried. Also when I laid my Blast down in Dec of 2008, I hit my head pretty hard on the pavement. It did a great job of protecting me. I bought another one after the wreck. (Message edited by zane on February 25, 2010) | ||

I ran an RF-1000 for about 4 years. It was nice and did okay in cold weather. But had a couple tiny air leaks. Now my new RF-1100, is just a big improvement! Air leaks are pretty much gone and has better airflow in the summer hot days. But my 1000 was a good helmet! | ||

My RF1000 is super quiet, flows decently, likes to fog only when tucked behind my windshield (full faired) and breathing heavy. COMFY!!! Quality is top notch, esp for price. They can be had for 250 to 300. | ||

I've had mine for 4 years. Nice helmet, usually the first helmet I grab (I have over a dozen). It does have a tendency to fog up. | ||

I tried a RF-1000 on at a dealership but the RF-1100 has a slightly longer oval shape and fit me better so I picked it up instead. both have excellent build quality interiors and paint. its still winter in Michigan so I haven't ridden in it yet. | ||

I've got an RF-1000 that has been in use for going on 4 years. As others have said, it does fog up pretty easily. I've found that keeping the visor VERY clean helps with that. Mine has started leaking a little air around the visor, but when it gets too bad I've always been able to fix that by removing the visor and readjusting how tight it fits against the gasket. I found that a large shell size with medium cheek pads fits me best. A medium shell applies pressure to my forehead and is downright painful after a couple hours. I plan on either an RF-1100 or a Bell Star in the near future. | ||

I concur with what everyone has said. Solid Light weight Extremely Comfortable (if your head is shaped for it) It has channels for eye glass stems so wearing glasses is very doable (big plus for me) It Likes to fog up a lot in cold weather. I don't use mine for commuting to work because of that. It is my helmet of choice for nice weather riding. I use a Scorpion 900 modular for early morning commute and a Nolan N-102 before that. Neither fog up but neither are as light or as comfortable as the RF-1000. | ||

I put 35K miles on one and really liked it. Stepped up to an X-11 and really could take or leave it compared to the RF1000. The old funky RF1000 is on the shelf ready for backup duty as we speak! | ||

Shoei likes a round head  Arai in the past catered to an oval head but I see now they offer different shapes. But if your head is more round than oval definitely try on a Shoei. | ||

The RF1000 failed my cold weather riding test. Albeit very comfortable and light, the shield fogged up like there is no tomorrow. MC superstore suggested I try Shoei's anti fogging visor solution but I didn't want to mess with it. I exchanged it for a EXO-1000 and coulnd't be happier. | ||

I use the Scott no fog cloths with great success on my Shoeis, FWIW. |
