I hope I never develop the attitude that most 1125 owners have...

I'll wager that "someone" will be riding my 37-year old shovelhead this weekend.

Unless the weather is really crappy.

I still get nostalgic for my old M2. It turned heads, and it was fun to ride during the brief interludes between break downs. : )

Well, with at least one of each 'mass produced' generation in the garage...an S2, an S1W, an M2L, a Uly and a CR (and a Blast on the way, just waiting for the tundra to thaw), I can safely say each one is just as fun as another. They're a little like children - you shouldn't have a "favorite" per se...but you can definitely enjoy each one for its own strengths.

And I can count the problems on one hand:

98 S1W - Rear shock gave out, put on a Penske. The gearbox locked up. I purchased the bike in 2006 with 1,100 miles on it. Too much time on the sidestand - mainshaft/5th gear bearing drained and dried out, and locked up on me putting the bike, effectively, in 2 gears at once. That doesn't work well. Gearbox rebuild (LOVE a trapdoor!) with micropolished gears, VERY nice. Also rocker box gaskets leaked. Wheee. Now has 6k(ish) miles - it's the "toy" bike.

95 S2 - rear shock was bad, replaced with a Works. Base gaskets leaked...so I put a Thunderstorm top end on it (with cams). Pushrod bases started leaking last fall - NRHS billet bases took care of that. While I was in there (had it apart anyway), I did an XB rockerbox conversion to cut down on puke. Oh, and I had to replace the VOES when a wire pulled out. About 30k on it now.

M2L - currently needs a battery. Bought it last spring, a hair over 3k miles on it (it's an '01), no battery tender lead and no dates punched out of the battery label...so unknown quantity there.

Uly - um....nothing. I did replace the rear wheel bearings as PM at 5k, but they were still good, no notches. 12k miles, not a single issue. Still has the factory battery. Wait. I forgot. My clutch wireform broke; I replaced it before the cable could melt.

CR - well, with 325 miles on it....even *I* can't break something that quick!!

Blast - not here yet.

I like all buells, but for me it will always be about my 97 cyclone. Part of the appeal are the rude manners this bike has.

Someone that thinks one make or model of bike is better than everything else sounds a lot like a close minded Harley, BMW, Honda (pick the brand) rider.

A Buell Enthusiast, a TRUE Buell Enthusiast appreciates all Buells, the people that made them and the people that ride them.

Good natured ribbing is one thing. This is not it.

Yes, while riding in the rain your Buell is water cooled, and so are you.

I have three Buells in my stable, THE S1W an XB12R and an XB12X. If by chance I would be forced to "thin the herd", THE S1W would be the last bike standing!!!

When Ezno Ferrari was asked what his favorite Ferrari was, he simply answered, "Whatever one we make next".

I look at Buells in kind of the same way

"A Buell Enthusiast, a TRUE Buell Enthusiast appreciates all Buells, the people that made them and the people that ride them. "

+10
Frank hit the nail on the head with that statement.
I can honestly say that I have never had major problems with ANY of my Buells, that were a result of anything the factory did.
All problems I've had, besides normal failures, have been caused by poor craftsmanship by the crappy dealerships I've taken my bikes to.

As far as which Buell is the best? The S2 hands down.
No other model has such sexy bodywork, smooth lines, and evokes stares like the S2 does when it rolls by.
Which Buell performs the best? I would have to say the 1125 models. My 1125CR would pull my arms out of the sockets if I let it. It's a real stump puller, handles like all Buells, (like a dream) and can scare small children with a single menacing stare. ; )
I enjoy my XB because it reminds me of what Erik went through to achieve his dream.
Between the Beauty of the Tubers, and the wonderful power of the 1125 models, the XB stands proudly, with it's air cooled "lump" and paint shaking personality, it shows the ingenuity of what a man can do, when he has the bare minimum to work with.
It too, handles like a dream, makes good, reliable power, and is different in every sense.
In my opinion, people who claim one bike is better than the other, have not become one with the ride. You need to get your hands dirty, skin a few knuckles, ride the tree shrouded roads of the smokey mountains, and the sun drenched canyons of the southwest. I've been riding for 45 years now, and have ridden pretty much everything out there. I know what can do what, and what stirs my soul.
Buells are not just another motorcycle. If you think they are, then you are not a true Buelligan.
If you love your Buell, it will love you back...

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body,

but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting:

"...holy shitt...what a ride!"

BTW, I'm getting ready to order a custom seat for my X1 which will further establish the X1 as the most coveted bike of all time. I just don't see how anyone can argue with my logic.
