http://www.dakotavoice.com/2010/01/gun-control-adv ocate-shoots-intruder/

Sen. R.C. Soles of NC. Typical of the gun control advocates we have around Chicago too. Guns are bad for the citizens, but fine for the political elite who oppose them.

Now Soles is being charged in the shooting of an intruder. I wonder how he feels about gun control now?

The sad thing is that pushing for gun control pushes gun safety and training out of the mainstream. Had Soles had proper training this shooting may very well not have happened. It seems it may not have been a 'good shoot' as they say. Proper training, which will only be available when guns are legal, will teach you when to shoot and when not to shoot. I hope this schmuck does some jail time just for being stupid.

Well good for him. Elitist who opposes guns for his constituency, but feels he is important enough to own one. Doh!

Here's to his being honest enough to allow the laws he backed keep him behind bars.

Dude, that was an Effin' scumbag lawyer, he is not going to do any time, and if he gets anything more than a slap on the wrist, I will personally kiss your ass at Home Coming for all to see, he is an elitist and is not subject to the same laws as the commoner serf.

Don't kid yourself, it will all go down just like everthing the Kennedys ever got themselves into or Cheney doing face shots.

Why do you think attorneys take the title Esquire? It is bacause they become nobility. Titles of nobility are NOT supposed to be taken by Americans, we were freed from kings and nobles in 1776, but we have allowed ourselves to be flim-flammed by pettifogger elitists. Don your chains America...

Former S.D. Governor Bill Janklow pretty much got away with killing a Motorcyclist and went on to get back His license to practice law as a Felon, even before His probation ended.

Full Extent of the Law only applies to the Electorate, not the Elected.

Ray, I'll pass on the pic. I sure don't want to see it!

I agree though, unless he has not pissed off enough people to be on their 'list', and he doesn't have the dirt on the right people, he will likely never see time. Good'ol boy network can put him right back to work to keep promoting his stand. AND it is funny that he knew the alleged burglar.

The kid was probably just there to sell him drugs or something anyway.

Hypocrite comes to mind, though quite typical for the elitist politicians.

"Had Soles had proper training this shooting may very well not have happened."
Not sure where you came to that conclusion, the article seems to say Soles shot the guy in the back as he was running away, and that is murder.

The guy who got shot is still kicking, so maybe it's attempted murder?

Do a search on Soles... there's a lot more to it. The guy's a certifiable creep.

I come to that conclusion because part of proper gun training is learning when to use it and when to not use it. Shooting someone should be a last option action. When the intruder has his back to you he is probably leaving and shooting isn't your last option. Proper training will teach you that.

and is no doubt still in good standing with his local bar association.

They police their own you know....no one else has juristiction over them, they set it up that way for a purpose, so they can do just as they please with no controlling state entity to oversee them. The "State Bar Association" of any state is not controlled or over seen by any State Agency. They may pay dues for membership, but it is to the "Bar" not the state.

Sifo, I understand now. I am lucky to have a good gun shop, and the guy behind the counter LOVES to talk, and also instructs, so I have learned much there. One thing that stuck was "You shoot to eliminate a threat, and when someone is running away, they are no longer a threat", I guess I just stored that away as common sense.

Oops, right Gary. Attempted.

The majority of time spent in a concealed carry course is about when to shoot or don't shoot and the legal ramifications of your actions. At the very end you actually go qualify with your weapon.

PAPPAGEORGE ACCIDENT: Explaining the decision not to ticket Sen. John Pappageorge (R-Troy) for rolling his vehicle on I-75 this week, State Police said Friday that officers have discretion on whether to issue a ticket in one-car accidents where no one other than the driver is injured.

Mr. Pappageorge sustained minor injuries after rolling his Saturn Vue in slick conditions triggered by lake effect snow while driving through Groveland Township on his way to a committee meeting in Lansing. He was taken to Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc where he spent the night for observation.

Police did not issue a ticket in the incident. No other vehicles were involved.

"In general, if someone slides off the road and nobody's injured, it's the officers discretion," said Sgt. Lynne Walker of the State Police's Groveland Post, which responded to the accident.

Mr. Pappageorge is expected to return to Senate session Tuesday
