I am surprised that no one has started a thread about this great American motorcycle race. From what reading between the lines thus far has garnered, there will be Buells representing. I don't have any good information on that. What Buell riders will be racing? I was fortunate enough to go last year with my ole ridin' buddy Mark, the Wolfridgerider. Our trip to and from was as enjoyable as the racing, camping in the Daytona infield, meeting up with my eldest son and an old friend who both live in Florida, as well as the rest of the people and places we got to visit. And to say that means a lot(think time in the pits with Erik, Henry, and the Geico Girls). I think we are agreed that it was a great trip, albeit colder than we would have liked. I have been planning to make this trip since last year's edition. Business being what it has been the past year, and this heavy duty winter that won't let go puts me more than ever in the need of a few days off, and a major Buell ride to boot. Business seems to have turned the corner in a good way, but that makes taking time off more difficult. I hate to put a hiccough in the much needed recovery period that is happening. But then, I have been locked in my office and shop for many cold damp months with the only time off for being ill a couple of times. The wife says do it if you can, Mark keeps calling me to say hurry up and plan it, Court puts out these little "you gotta see what is coming" digs, it is warmer there, my uly could be ready in a couple of hours, I haven't seen my son in five months, and this kind of an attitude adjustment might be what I need. I really regret letting circumstances keep me from the "Last Ride" at the Factory(no choice at that moment). Of course there is the mature side that says "nose to the grindstone", dig deeper, get more done, keep fixing the program don't take the time off. Money is tight don't spend anything unnecessary. What to do? I will be proud of myself if I stay and work, I will be happy with myself if I do it. The tipping point is a little time off may help my attitude and outlook with my work. Come on down. When Court called me last week and mentioned he was going It got me thinking what a crappy winter we were having and that I needed a brake from working 80 hours a week. It did not take much to make up my mind. I will only will be there from Wednesday until Saturday morning but a few days will be better than nothing. Only wish I had the time to ride down. Hope to see you there. Mike Long Island, NY |

Hey Vern, I forgot about camping in the infield. I may just do that on the Friday night. Although, if my wife decides she wants to see the 200 we will be staying in a hotel. She who must be obeyed doesn't camp. |

First let me say ! Who would ever think to look in the Racing thread for information on racing? Again ! As far as a repost it hasn't been on Quick Board or BBD, there is not even mention of it in any headings in the Storm Fronts,(you know, where groups of riders get together for events). and since my wife has me relegated to not expanding my boundaries without her insight, she didn't even tell me about the Buell Racing Section. I'm telling ya, it's as if she didn't want me to know it existed.and I may have been avoiding her insight. Froggy, you know I live in the country.....my wild mountain bunnies can kill and eat your city bunnies! Spidy, if you pull out your bunnies.....let's say I don't want to be around when you have something warm and fuzzy in your hands!next thing ya know you'll be wearing a pink thong or something! Hey Neil, I don't know if I will make it at all. Last year my son and my buddy from way back, rode their bikes over to camp with us in Daytona. Met up at Hooter's if I recall. Unless we truck down Tampa will probably not be on our map. If were to truck it we would probably park it at my son's house unload and run. So best answer, I don't know at this point. I do know our time would be short though. How are you set for a ride to Daytona on the 4th in the evening or so? Perhaps the race on the 5th? Camp in the infield maybe? Could be a party. |

Adrian, I too have a camp-less wife, unless of course you have a fully equipped fifth wheel or motor coach of at least 35 feet. Send her for an evening of shopping, come camping with us. She will probably have a better time than spending another boring evening with her husband doing what he wants to do!(if I had a nickel....) |

Hey Neil - My business partner and I are planning to ride over to Daytona for the day on Sunday (2/28/10) for a look around and ride back same day. You are welcome to join us. I will be riding back over on Friday (3/5) staying for the 200 and either camping or hotel that night. I'll be riding back on Saturday. You are welcome on that ride too. |
