Why you be hating on my X-1 Froggy? 68,000 miles later and I still look forward to every ride. I'd never think of riding a Harley, but that aircooled V-Twin is so much fun. I love that sound and vibration. Handles well enough for me...I'm no Mladin. On the other hand I was never happier than the day I traded my Uly in. Too tall for the highway, painful ergonomics. It's the only bike that ever hurt me. Rode from VA to WI and back and both of my wrists felt like they were permanently injured. Took a month for them to stop hurting. I put on some TT bars and that helped. But then there is that overpriced crap for luggage. The latch on the right bag broke in the first week and no way was I going to buy another set of that junk. I'd rather strap a duffel bag on that silly flip up seat. And talk about a hazard off road. Unless you are running on hard surfaces like gravel you can pretty much look forward to dumping it the minute you enter a muddy rut or wet grass. The Scorps inspired zero confidence on or off road. I put on Corsas and they actually felt better on gravel than the Scorps. Not enough travel on the suspension to make it a real offroader, and way too tall and soft to be a good corner carver. On top of it all I never got used to the XB powerplant...it lacked the low end grunt of my X-1 and felt like it was straining at the top end. At least with my X-1 I can actually enjoy the ride. |

quote: You mean real piece of junk that Erik was pretty much stuck with? Hell, he was trying to get away from air cooled back in the 80's. That piece of junk is what made a Buell "Different in every sense", not like every other "Jap" bike for sale. If I wanted Hi Tech, I can spell GSXR. quote: Must be why Harley is having so many problems selling bikes, nobody wants a real one! There certainly isn't anything wrong with Harley Davidson motorcycles, mechanically. They finally reached the saturation point, all the old fat wanna be posers have one in their garage now. Guess they thought there was an endless supply. Everybody is having problems selling bikes now. Seems the ugly comment was skipped over, maybe because they are ugly? Ever since the introduction of the UgLY, the bikes have gotten uglier, if that's possible. |

Different in every sense, including slow and unreliable! If you want high tech, get anything that wasn't made in Wisconsin. If you want obsolete unrefined junk, well you know where to look

Wrong. Triumph sales are UP 26% in the UK, and 5.49% here in the US. Their global market share has increased by 29%. I skipped the ugly comment, because looks are subjective. My 1125CR is the best looking bike on the market, with the 1125R being a close second. My XB is the ugliest piece of crap I have ever seen, and I sunk a ton of money trying to make it pretty, and all I did was put lipstick on a heavy, slow, hot running pig. |

What the heck is with all the "air cooled" hatin' going on here? Air cooled is the only civilized way to make a motorized vehicle. The highest volume automobile of all time was air cooled (also one of the coolest........). Cut some slack here, huh! Water cooling is OK if you don't mind all the water pumps and thermostats and radiators and hoses and antifreeze and all that crap. Nothin' more bomb proof than air coolin'........all three of my hobbies involve air cooled motors (airplanes, bikes, and cars). I will stick with them for the time being, thanks anyway |

I'm not biased, they have their place, in a museum Yea, you add a few hoses, a radiator, and a water pump to gain water cooling, it is a small price to pay for being able to make a more compact, more efficient, and more power full engine. Because its water cooled it can be built to tighter tolerances to improve reliability. The VW Beetle was cheap, thats the only reason they made so many and sold so well. It was a glorified enclosed scooter. Other than being light on your wallet, it excelled at nothing. Why did the production come to an end? The Bug was beaten at its own game by the Civic. Don't get me wrong, I love my piece of crap air cooled Blast, but the second the motor blows I am giving Rotax a call and getting a 450. |

I've ridden both. I'd love to have both. Given the choice of one vs. the other, I prefer the XB. |

Froggy, You go where no man should venture. We air-coolers are a tough bunch. Too easy to poke a hole in your radiator for you to stir our ire so. |

mine haven't leaked yet! You haven't tried parking it in the trunk of a honda accord yet like you did with the SS. I have a feeling she'd leak. |

Here is some pics from March Badness. Look! A tuber needing work! A XB needing work! A bunch of 1125R's waiting to go play, they aren't sitting around being wrenched on

I'll wager that someone will still be riding my 27 year old ShovelHead, long after all the 1125s are in the junk yard. If I recall as far back as 6 months ago, Harley Davidson dealers had unsold 1125s coming out of their butts. Seems like they only became popular when they were reduced to near half price. I'll even bet the 3 guys who actually paid retail for one are really pissed. |

^^ what he said 20 years down the road ill still be able to get parts for my tuber, cause its just sporty parts on it. With the 1125 i have my doubts. And on top of that, my m2 broke down on the way to buelltoberfest 2. We were able to fix it on the side of the road in 15 minutes and were on our way. (Message edited by Guell on February 16, 2010) |

Great pics, no those 1125s aren't sitting around being wrenched on because they are more unwanted, unsold units. |

Internal combustion vehicles will be illegal by before that happens.
quote:If I recall as far back as 6 months ago, Harley Davidson dealers had unsold 1125s coming out of their butts.
They also had loads of unsold XB's and HOGs coming out their butts. My local dealer didn't even have any 1125's in stock till the 09 models came out due to the pre-sold backorder.
quote: I'll even bet the 3 guys who actually paid retail for one are really pissed.
I am curious to see the actual numbers of sales pre/post fire sale, but being one of the thousands that purchased at full price, I wasn't pissed, I took advantage and bought another one. Both my 1125's have been the most reliable bikes I have ever owned. My Blast, XB12SS, and Uly literally fall apart while riding. I come out of work one day, my blast is making a nasty rattling sound, I get home and it was gone, and so was my timing cover. Same thing on my SS, and my chin spoiler was hanging on by 1 bolt and melted to my header. My 1125CR, being the unreliable piece of crap it is, actually blew a tail light bulb at something like 6000 miles! WTF is up with that? If it was my XB it would of been both head lights and the fan, and if I am lucky the turn signal would still be hanging on by the cord. |

It will be interesting to see, but given the 1125's reliability, I don't think that will ever be an issue outside of a collision.

You would of never made that stop on the 1125

I may be in touch, I am trying to fix up my XB, but its one headache after another. Sometimes I just want to drag it to the curb and toss it, but I know I can get more for it parting out.

These were demo units, back in March 2008, when you couldn't get 1125's because of the backorders. This was my first time getting a serious up close look to check them out. Also, it was next to impossible to take one out for a spin because the schedule had them booked solid. They had a few XB's available too (in the right of the pic) but those were only signed out after, kinda like sloppy seconds. |
