‘Of course, if the MWP was shown to be global in extent and as warm or warmer than today, then obviously the late 20th Century warmth would not be unprecedented. On the other hand, if the MWP was global, but was less warm than today, then the current warmth would be unprecedented.’

please. You can be more weasel worded if you try. We've heard you.

So, even though he says that maybe there was a warming period before, he's not really sure... ( the Little Climactic Optimum...LCO or MWP medieval warming period, is about as well documented as anything European from 1000 years ago. They even know when the Viking Colony on Greenland was abandoned ) but he dead certain that the theory he's been getting paid for is absolutely true, even though he says there's been no statistically significant warming since 1995.

I think he's wrong about his lies too. I think that the 1998 temp peak was warmer than 1995....( cooler than 1932, mind you ) but I don't have the data he can't find.

Obama administration scientist on snowstorms: ‘Weather is not climate’

So if the ice stops melting because of weather, can we stop talking about the climate?

No matter what, whatever the weather, the global climate enthusiasts will find a reason why it's still caused by global warming. It is truly amazing.

Bring on global warming, I'm ready to ride!!!

I wish we could get over any discussion of global warming, and yet still do everything we can to improve this planet that we want our kids and grandkids and beyond to enjoy as much as we do. If Al Gore just stopped talking about global warming, and started talking about the need for us to wean ourselves from such huge oil consumption, for the need to be energy independent and to maintain a strong manufacturing base here at home, to support american-made products - all in the name of a strong economy and stronger national security, then we could all rally behind "doing the right thing" for clean energy sources, boosting energy efficiency, boosting a home-grown alternative energy economy with the accompanying manufacturing base... in this country, the economics of a situation, coupled with national security, will always trump any other driving force. So if we can all understand that doing the right thing for the ecology of the planet is also vitally linked with our economic and strategic well-being, then it will be a no-brainer for everyone to get behind "green" issues. "Saving the planet" is way too vague and distant for anyone to feel fired up about. Getting this country back on track is something we can all believe in and work, yes, even sacrifice for.

here's an article in USAToday that makes absolutely no sense.

Are these "scientists" on drugs now? We need reliable scientists not hype.

The planet warms and cools on it's own period. How else did the glaciers melt? Cave men using chemicals bad for the ozone layer and driving gas hog cars and trucks?

I'm all for keeping the planet clean. There are enough good reasons to do it that you don't need to lie to me. Once these "greenie weenie" were exposed, the lost all credibilty with me.

That scientist, John Christy makes very good sense. He has made very good sense for years. He is not pushing the idea that this is a AGW phenomenon, but simply part of the well known, but not well understood El nino/La nina cycle. It's simply moving the heat that in in the system around nothing more. Total heat content of the atmosphere and ocean doesn't change from this, but surface temperatures to record a spike during El nino periods.

This is why there was a huge spike in 1998 that the alarmists were claiming was AGW. It was nothing but a very strong El nino period. We are now entering another El Nino period and you can expect recorded surface temperatures to make a jump. Watch for the alarmists to try to turn this into global warming news just as they did in 1998.

You can see historical El Nino/La Nina data here. It's good to stay informed on the data.

It's Greed man,, thats what has got us in this situation to begin with. You think the oil companies want to go drill and make they're product cheaper? I don't think so,, I wouldn't either just from the bashing they've taken from congress. In this climate the oil companies would have to suffer all kinds of restrictions, penalties, fines and taxes and just plain cutting they're margin to nothing. A lot of things would have to change to get them intrested.
