Have you ever had one of those times where you are not ready to do something, but you realize that you may not have the opportunity again later? I have been tortured with that since the news that HD was discontuing Buell. I have wanted an 1125r, but it wasnt in the budget. With HD of Tucson selling the 1125 for $6995, and my wife telling me she would pay for half of it as a x-mas/b-day present, I decided to do it. I am now the proud owner of a 2009 1125r in villain black.
We picked the bike up late saturday afternoon, and decided to take the long way home. Riding west into the setting sun, we headed up over the pass on Picture rocks road. The saguaros were silhouetted in the failing light as we rolled down McCain loop road. I began to settle in and get comfortable with my new ride, as we flowed in a nice rhythm through the gentle curves. It was dark as we started over Gates pass, and I was pleasantly surprised at how good the headlights on the 1125 are. This made me think of the night a few years earlier, when I bought my Firebolt. On the ride home I had decided to take a detour up Gates pass, and was struck by how bad the lights were. This got me thinking about the differences between the two bikes. I guess I had expected the 1125 to be a more powerful version of the xb, but that is not the case. There is a familiarity between the two, but they are very different bikes. The 1125 improves the line, but it is not a replacement for the xb because they are so different. I now own an 1125r and an xb9r. While on vacation in 08 I rented a Uly. Each of these bikes is very different and fills its own niche... they are all excellent bikes in there own way. I know that I am preaching to the choir here, but I like these bikes and I wish that Buell had not been given the axe.

You say that now, wait till 8 months down the line and you still are riding the 1125R and the inferior XB hasn't moved an inch. : )
