I have a hot date tonight and I need my DVD player working!!!

I have a cheapy DVD player I'm hooking up into my receiver with component cables. I have the sound working fine, can't get any video.

The receiver is an Onkyo HT-R550. When I go through the setup menu I set the HDMI DVD Input to 'No' which should tell it to look at the other inputs, but I still get no video.

Let me know if you can help...

What he said, link the DVD to the TV and use an optical cable to hook the DVD up to the receiver

Yeah, that's what I had to end up doing... I like having everything pass through the receiver, but I just read that the DVD player input has to be the same as the output to the TV - I'm using HDMI for video into the TV, so even if I passed a component cable signal through the receiver it would still mean having to change the input on the TV. At least the sound is working like I want and the video will work for now.
