Graham, it is a Konig. The late Kim Newcombe ran a special based on this outboard motor engine in the early '70's.

I'll give you it's a stroker but it's not a Scott though I believe that was the inspiration behind it.

That's a hell of a solution for no push rods. I just wonder what the gear lash sounds like.

Hint: It was offered as either a two stroke or four stroke. The four stroke was priced a bit higher. All those gears I guess.

+1 chili. This one's late 70's to early 80's. 500cc, 14 to 1 compression, methanol propelled, 4 valves per cylinder, 50 to 70 horse power (well the Weslakes are at the low end of that and the modern single overhead cam GM's and Jawa's at the high end.)

I've always wondered what a speedway motor like a Weslake would be like with a 6-speed 'box in a streetbike chassis, say stuffed into an RGV250...

Tom_B's second one is an early BSA WM20 or 21.

Brother_in_Buells is a Panther 250 / 350 - I think the 250 had points and the 350 a magneto.

I'm really impressed.

Have you guys actually seen these motors in the flesh, or are you just incredibly well versed from books, the net, etc? Either way, I'm amazed.

I will add that it's supercharged.

As for a hint... It's built in an area that's renowned for cheap firearms.

You got it Ray. Same case and gearbox, different head for 2 or 4 stroke. I'd like to hear that gear whine.
