I just got a 06 klr650 for $2,889 out the door with 1,545 miles on it!
A guys wife had it and it was to big for her so they shaved the seat foam and installed lowering links and hacked the kickstand down. But she still dropped it and broke the brake lever off. So they traded it in on something smaller.......SCORE!!!!

I love dual sport enduros!

Just got a good deal 07 klx 250 myself. 1200 miles. Wanted mostly for dirt, so went with light wieght.
Had a xt 600 for years. They go well in the woods but are very unforgiving. Wanted a ktm exc,
but it’s hard find a good one cheap.

Here are some pics i took on a mountain ride 2 days ago.

I was going to sneak onto the off-road trails but there was to deep of snow on the road.

Sneak...the canyon is closed for the winter and can be very fun!!!

That looks like excellent dual sport country. That road looks perfect for stretching the legs on that nice 650.

That's perfect terrain. I had a KLR-250 (the grand-pappy for Buelleavers nice KLX above) and had a really fun season of dual sport riding (ride to the trail, ride the trail, ride home). Here in Ohio though, the trails are pretty far away, and are pretty tight and woodsy.

Sold the KLR-250 (which I miss for running around town) for a KDX-200 (which is nowhere near street legal, though I could actually plate it in Ohio if I wanted to make a hobby of it). I just got a trailer hitch for the car and borrow the neighbors trailer (or the other neighbors truck).

I liked the KLR-250 a lot, but the KDX makes twice the power, weighs 80 pounds less, and I could rebuild it in the parking lot during lunch. And maybe it's better that it isn't street legal, I would no doubt have collected whatever ticket they give for wheelies by now if it were. Maybe two of them... : )

But out in the mountians, with big open spaces and dirt roads instead of woods trails, a street legal KLX or KLR would be fantastically fun... Congrats!

Probably the......yes 'THE' best on-off road bike out there.. Sure you can get a GS Beemer or the KTM, but they are more in the poser world, with their owners less likely to push the limits due to cost issues of broken parts. Man theres a host of stuff you can get for those, like all manner of crash guards (and they look good too) to metal pannier luggage boxes. You can make it look like a Paris to Dakar bike in short order, and its tough enough to handel it too, pluss parts are readily available. Check out 'Metal Mule' for the luggage. And about 50+ miles per gallon. You scored bud, I'm sure you'll have a gass with this bike, I'm jelious......enjoy

Paved roads are overrated!

My buddy has that KLR650 (newer though, 2009) and he LOVES the thing, and the more I ride with him the more I like it too. This spring it's getting aluminum panniers and some other little goodies that are going to make me like it even more.

Also, just browsing around I came across this KLR650. I love it!

Ah, you'll enjoy the off-road stuff. It makes you a better rider by learning how to handle the slippery stuff.

I was kicking around getting an adventure bike but I'd need to sell 2 to do it. After riding around the Moab, UT area on the road bike last year some of us are talking about going back out this spring with the enduros and riding the trails. I have been reading on the AMA site that a Democrat congressman from UT wants to make that whole area a wilderness and ban all mechanical travel, even bicycles. I figure I'd better experience it now because this group running the country doesn't seem to give a whit whether their actions are constitutional or not.

I was riding with a cop last night checking limos at the Detroit Auto Show. As soon as I mentioned Buell, he was asking about a thumper! He wanted a Blast but it would have been too small for him and he wanted something dirtier. The Buell dirt bike would have been a hit, too F'in bad that it never came to fruition.

Please, no more missed opportunities!
