I'm sorry my dear American friends, but you're f****d, all of you.

We have Presidential addresses here in France that are televised live on multiple channels, & back in the UK we have the Queen's speech at Christmas, which is sacrosanct.

But you my friends, you're screwed, when your President's "State of the Union" address gets shunted aside for a crappy tv series, all hope is LOST.

My commiserations to you all.

Hallelujah! I'm glad we got our priorities right on something!

Besides, there's apt to be less fiction and more believability in "Lost" anyway...

Sounds like a perfectly acceptable situation to me.
1. I will be perfectly content to watch condensed coverage of the lying narcissist's speech after the fact.
2. I have no interest in Lost.

Seriously. Every single day at lunch, all that's on the TV in the work cafeteria is BO.

Ever hear of the boy who cried wolf?

i gave up on watching the "state of the union" after the third season, i was tired of trying to figure out problems that were being left unanswered

I'm with Greg on this one. It's a bunch of BS, whether Clinton, Bush, or Obama. What they say doesn't seem to mean much, what they do is what matters. I'd rather follow their actions and not waste my time listening to platitudes and false promises in canned speeches written by lawyers and advisers.

Queens speech wasn't all too bad. She's still a squawking old bag. Seems all she does is flash around the Crown Jewels anymore, Parliaments more of the decision maker. Kind of like the President, and Congress. I might tune in to get a laugh or two, I get a laugh out of those ears of his. Dumbo comes to mind...

Three seasons of "trying to figure out problems that were being left unanswered" in less than a year will cause many to lose "hope" and give up watching.

Fatty, I'm getting the impression you hate BO for no other reason than he's a Black Democrat. It seems it would not make any difference to you if he is proven to be the best Pres. we have ever had...You would still say he's loser. WTH, the man did not shoot your dog, did he. Stop all the hate'n and give him a chance.
I know what I said may irritate you, but Please don't kick me off like Rocket...LOL

Yeah, but they won't do nothing about it. We are helpless.

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?
If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved? If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?
If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?
If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to "Cinco de Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?
If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word "advice" would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as proof of what a dunce he is?
If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he's a hypocrite?
If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?
If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans , would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?
If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America , would you have approved.
If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?
If George W Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved? So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive?

Not sure if all of the above is exact, but it sure is close............/

I think liberals see 0bama as black, but conservatives see him as red.

What is sad is the above commenter thinks that post about Bush has some merit. I read that months ago and just laughed. You have to close your eyes really really really hard to think it is political gold.

Village idiots could do a better job than Parliament.

I remember staying up late on a school day to watch that with my Dad when it was first aired, we were weak with laughter at the end even though I was too young to get all the references.

It's a shame there's not much tv of that quality these days.

I think it's due to the proliferation of channels on satellite & the net.

When there were just a few channels the competition was fiercer to get shown sow the product had to be good, nowadays there's a channel for any old crap.

What was it Springsteen said? "57 Channels & nothing on"

He's about an order of magnitude out of date now, but the principle holds.

I understood that the single most important problem at the White House was the decision to preempt either "Lost" or "American Idol". 2 tv shows with huge fanbase. Larger than Obama's, it seems.

Don't want "American Idol" to get better ratings, eh?

I'm guessing jason is just racist, like most old Democrats, Ft_bastard, It is the party of the Klan.

I can find nothing in fatty's posts to suggest that. Nor can I glean anything that might indicate he is a racist.

Yeah, he hates democrats for sure, but nothing I've ever seen shows him to be racist at all. More libertarian and conservative than anything else.

Funny how conservatives in the US are labeled as racists. Bush W. put more black people in prominent positions than any Democrat I can remember, but gets little to no recognition for it. I give Bush credit for picking good people for the right reasons, and ignored race.

Conservative does not mean racist!

State of the Union is BS. In a world of 24 hour news and C-Span, he's not going to tell us anything we don't already know. It's just tradition at this point.

I'd rather watch Lost. At least I can count on something unexpected happening.

And before anyone calls me a racist (since that's the standard response to anything that could be perceived as anti-Obama), I wouldn't watch if it were a white Republican either, and for the same reasons.
