Sorry, I just can't follow your logic here. What exactly does a staged political gathering in Copenhagen have to do with the response to the earthquake?

I also don't see how the ABC bit sheds any light on the offending sentence.

Still sounds to me like he blames the earthquake on our failure to stop AGW.

Let me put it this way, what did we do at the climate summit? We did little to nothing (thankfully IMO)just words. So in Glover's world we did next to nothing at the climate summit and we are apt to repeat that in Haiti. So he is comparing our lack of response (not sure what else he expects us to do) in Haiti to our lack of response on AGW. In the ABC piece he talks about how Obama's (the administration) response to the crisis will define Obama's Presidency. It's the response to the crisis that Glover is focused on, not the cause of the earthquake. I'm not asking you to agree with me, but I hope that helps you understand my "logic".

Well at least now I see your logic. It's wrong, but I understand your view point.

Just before the "offending line" Glover can this time be heard clearly saying "They are all in peril because of global warming, they are all in peril because of climate change..." referring to Caribbean island nations. He is quite clear that they are in peril because of global warming, not from a lack of response to disasters.

So all this money goes to Haiti to aid the victims. Great, now what? what happens when the area is cleaned up and needs re-building? Who's going to fund that? If their buildings are re-built like the last ones, there's nothing stopping this same thing from happening again. With that country being a giant toilet, who's going to upkeep and maintain the new buildings?

At what point does aid to Haiti end? never?

Level it, put in new Hilton, Hyatt, Marriot, Disney... since we cant get CUBA back, we need another Caribbean excuse for regional capitalist expansion.

Nobody is saying squat about Dominican Republic. Maybe they had higher building standards for construction. Or they are just far away enough from the epicenter that the impact was diminished.

US sending 10,000 troops to earthquake-hit Haiti.

Good. Thoughts and prayers to our service personal and those affected by this devastation.

I have friends vacationing in Dominican Republic. They said all they felt was a small vibration. Very little. We were worried about them getting home. No problems though.
