Wisconsin is a fickle bitch.

It's way cold down here in south Texas. We normally never see freezing temps more than literally a night or two each winter and it may snow for a few hours once every five years or so, but this winter it has already snowed twice and drops below freezing most every night. This week we're looking at low 20's for the overnight lows and snow at least once this week. That's freakin' freezin' for down here.

I actually winterized my bike for the first time this year. My ride's got Stay-bil and fresh oil/primary fluid and sitting on bike stands, and her battery is sitting inside the house on a battery tender. Never done that before; never felt the need...until now. Global warming my hiney.

so i decide to get out for a cycle ride for a couple of hours. head up toward the local moors, get about 10 miles along a cycle route (an old railway track), starts raining, so i turn round and head home. had a showe, look out the window and its snowing again.in the car to work tonight

Here in Alabama, it was a grand 14 degrees when I woke up. The high today is supposed to be 32. It is friggen frigid here!!

The rest of the week looks like this:
WED: 25/37
THUR: 13/36 With 70% chance of snow
FRI: 10/24
SAT: 12/23
SUN: 20/34.. Wow, a friggen heat wave!

Hopefully we get enough snow on Thrusday to have fun in... But I think they said only about 1-2 inches. Can't really sled much on that...

Got up this morning to 23 degrees here in south Texas. We're expecting snow and overnights in the teens in the Houston area toward the end of the week with no expectation of above-freezing temps during the day. I'd normally be wearing shorts and a t-shirt this time of year down here (as I sit trying to type with the dang sleeve of my heavy wool sweater catching on the edge of the keyboard). I hate it when global warming does this to the temps...no wait...uhhh...

It snowed on Christmas Eve in 1989 or 1990. I can't remember which. I was out in it. People were screaming and crying..... I was thinking Holy Crap! I moved South to be warm. Funny, I have the same thoughts now.

Me too, Pammy. This is ridiculous! Can't remember this many cold days in a row in the past few years. Usually we get a cold front that sticks around for a day or two and then warm. By the time this is done, it will be two weeks of solid cold, 20-degree plus below average temps.

33 bitter degrees right now here in Leesburg, FL.

Funny how 33 here seems so much colder than 33 in Minneapolis. Is it the humidity?

It was 1989 when we got the big snow/ice storm in Florida...our big white welcome to the so-called sunshine state. It was the 2nd Christmas in a row we were snowed in, 1988 was a big blizzard in Minneapolis. Was thinking we needed to make plans for Christmas in Costa Rica in 1990 to avoid a 3rd snowed-in holiday. I lived in Tampa area for 17 years or so. It was funny how a half inch of snow closed down the entire area in '89.

I had employees who wouldn't come to work if the ground was warm enough that the snow couldn't stick, but the weather forecasters said there was a chance that there might be flurries in the air.

Here in East Tennessee it takes a whole inch of snow sticking to the roads to close down everything. The bigger problem here is ice on the roads and ice and snow sticking in the shaded valley areas with steep mountain roads, and the mountain tops where it gets blistery cold with deeper accumulations and high winds.

I find myself laughing at them about this on many occasions because I made snow for a living through three winters in NW Pa.

Right now we are on a five day straight below freezing run. That is rare in East Tenn. Normally it will get into the 40's during the day.....not yet this year.

It was 26 at my house this morning...we had 39 service calls come in by 10am...with 11 left over from yesterday....and we can only do maybe 15 calls if it all goes well...and it hasn't...this sucks...

If anybody knows a highly qualified A/C service tech in the central florida area that needs work....or is willing to change employers...I am offering a nice finder's fee : )
