Here's one good article: http://www.cycleworld.com/article.asp?section_id=4 3&article_id=315

I used to have a link to a detailed article on the development of the XR750 engine but I can't find it this morning. I recall reading that the aluminum alloy used for the cylinders and heads (which had been cast iron on earlier Sportsters) was developed by NASA and a special exemption had to be made to allow Harley to use it. Pretty wild for the 1970's...

A - it comes with a number of brackets - used the one on the elastic strap and a bit of foil tape.

I've hit one of those birds at 50 - flush on the cheek in a half-face.

Shattered the ray ban frames. ALMOST brought a tear to my eye. Bird cactus.

I was lucky enough to ride a XR750 a few times. If you ever get the chance, you won't forget it.

always was a sucker for the sporty. though at 570 lbs .... I feel she is a bit porky.
Now one set up with those big mudder tires, high dirt bike front fender... and somebody elses dime. I would beta test that thing until it broke or I ended up in the hospital.

The Cycle World article linked here is by that magazine's former editor, Alan Girdler, author of Harley Racers, and Harley Davidson Sportster, and Illustrated Harley Buyer's Guide, all probably out of print, but which have sections on the flat track racers. Girdler owns one himself. Within reach of my keyboard at home is a file cabinet drawer chock o' block full of Harley racing material. What do you need? I've owned flathead and overhead racers from K thru XR.

Alan Cathcart did an article in Classic Bike on Renzo Pasolini's 1972 XRTT road racer which covers the marque pretty well. The dirt trackers weigh about 320 lbs, wet.

Check out vft.org, their classifieds often have Blasts frames and chassis listed.
