More "out of touch with reality" nonsense from a stupid group of people. Unbelievable.

I always reply to the emails from Harley, I know no one reads them but it makes me feel better. But sometimes I like to pretend that some does and gets very offended.

Kicking people's bikes over for Buell is not in my future nor should it be in yours.

most of that email does end up back to your 'local' dealer. Let me tell you, I was thoroughly enthuised to read and answer my fair share of it.

"If H-D would have promoted Buell this much BEFORE Oct 15th... they may not have needed to send out emails like this....

If half the people who bought Buells after 15October would have bought them from 1/1/2009 thru 8/15/2009, I am willing to bet that H-D would not have made 15Oct such a traumatic day for us.

I could be wrong, but I wouldn't like it.

"what level headed buell owner would look at that email and not want to go kick some harley bike over/do something to show your pride for buell!?

Hopefully all Buell owners except you would not want to. But then your not really that stupid either, are you?

1) no Harley owner (Wandell only this year learned to ride and I doubt he actually bought a bike with his money) made this decision. Go kick Wandell in the ankle, that makes more sense.
2) taking out such aggression at a dealership is no better, dealers, even inept ones, at one time wanted to sell Buells.
3) many, in fact most of my Buell customers were, or are still, Harley owners too.
4) you would not like what would happen to you if you did that to a guys Harley if I was near by sitting on my Buell, but then you would be able to tell the Harley owner your criticism of Harley because I'd be sure you could meet him
5) such an act is to 'pride' as Sarah Pallin was to help defeat Obama.

I think H-D marketing is lost now more than ever with regard to Buell. Last week I got a nice box of promotional items to help me sell off my Buell inventory, which for all intents and purposes, has been sold for a month.

I bought my xb in 05 and bought my CR after the announcement I must admit because I got a 12K dollar motorcycle for less than 1/2 the price, I felt I had no choice and I also love Buells and wanted enough of them to last awhile if you know what I mean. My actual favorite Buell is the CityX but they were to much money to buy as an extra so I have a CR but I aint hating it turns out its the best motorcycle I ever owned. And sorry but I do not like the corporate yuppie world that H-D has become. I understand if you don't hate them but thats on you I got to do what I think is right and I will never buy another H-D motorcycle or piece of fagwear again not that they are losing much except 1 bike every 4-5 years but I am doing my part see.

Joules-

I completely understand where you are coming from on those of us that didn't purchase another (or first) Buell.

I loved my '99 S3 and wanted something like it in a newer model. My wife hated it and never wanted to ride with me on it (not neccessarily a problem : ( ). When Buell came out with the XB line I wasn't too interested in them due to their small stature. I preferred a touring bike and they weren't. I did give the CityX a serious look but the only dealer around me that had one was much more interested in selling me a Vrod. I couldn't understand how they could take a serious customer, with cash, and blow them off like they did. (My dad, who was a salesman all his life was with me and made the comment "They don't sell many of those, do they?"). I ended up with a Honda.

When they came out with the 1125 I was quite excited but couldn't justify the cost of a new one. I considered a Uly since I was wanting to do some adventure type riding. Unfortunately I ran across a really good deal on another used Honda and jumped at it.

The reason I had trouble going back to Buell was the dealer network that just didn't get the fact that Buell riders were actually motorcyclists instead of 'bikers' like their preferred clientele.

No one here need take personally the message of my posts for many of you are true Buell enthusiasts who probably tried more than once to improve your local dealers Buell acumen and then found a better dealership who gets it.

And sure as it's Erik with a "k", at least half our hugely successful sales of Buells since 15Oct came from great customers, regulars of ours who often already bought Buells and Harleys from us.

But I must pause to ponder the hypocrisy of those here who are so vocal about the terrible dealer network who are credited with root cause for Buells demise that had no problem walking into said dealers to buy bikes once they were half price which did nothing to help Buell stay in business.

Again, perhaps had half the people who bought Buells since 15Oct went in to the better dealers; the sponsors of BWB, or one of the 250 dealers who signed the transition agreement vowing support for the next 7 years (even though there will be no products to sell) and tried to negotiate a price for a new Buell, they may have gotten one.

We turned no reasonable offer away in all of 2009, and no matter how many Buell and sportbike centric events and marketing attempts we made, we just had too little sales to warrant ordering a large contingent of 2010 models in July. Since we had a number of 2009 models still in inventory, and the economy had still not turned a corner, survival-based conservatism reigned supreme. I recall the meeting we had. If we had just half a dozen more Buell sales from May thru July, we would have been much more optimistic in our order placement. But interest payments on sitting inventory and too few sales made an argument for adding more a weak one at best.

Further, I would hope that outspoken critics here get off their high horse for a moment to realize that if a dealership has signed on to seven years of support, for a product that has gone away, and one that had disappointing sales in most every location, then that dealer has his heart in the right place. Work with them, don't chastise them.
