who gives a rip?

B.R.A.G. flat sucked - big time!

Leslie [nee Parrish] tried to make B.R.A.G. flow with our crowd,
but Peggy & the rest of H.O.G. powers at H-D's HQ were simply too entrenched to see the light

good riddance!!

That's an accurate statement. B.R.A.G. . . . try as the nice girls may . . was always a hopeless attempt to shove round pegs in square holes.

I liked some parts of BRAG, but yeah, it followed HOG a bit to much. Shows how out of touch HD truly was.

1996 Pocono BRAG ride (race). Much fun, 96 Buells, all S1's and S2's.

1999 HD York Open House BRAG ride, 85 Buells.

1999/2000 Buell Homecoming had some cool events.

Also that All Cali ride (2003 I think) looked like a lot of fun.

That was one of the most amazing gatherings ever!

I'd been called in by Tina Daniels of the Laughlin-Constable Agency to "talk it up on CompuServe."

About 5 days before she called to say she wasn't sure that Blocker's had a handle on the number (they were estimating 25 bikes or something) and asked if I could ride out.

I made a most memorable ride . . . three tickets in Ohio . . two on the way out, one on the way back . . . you surely recall the "King of Enthusiasm" . . Mr. Jolt Cola . . . and the look on folks' faces when, at 9am, . . . . there were something like 139 Buells gathered.

It was a freight train.

It was also the day I made the dumbest move I've ever made on a motorcycle . . trying to show off. I lived through it but it was the ultimate squid move.

John Schreck, the guy on the Ducati 916, and I made the issue of Backroads and Brian wrote about us in the twisties with our bikes touching . . .

I had to leave early the next day and missed the famed "flipping of the silver S-1" by the pace bike rider.

: )

That was a WILD TIME.

I still have LOTS of good old fashioned film photos of that event.

You recall that the Jolt Cola guy (I'm trying to recall his name) had his wife following us in his Ford Lightning pickup with a video camera?

We need to grow up.

: )

That was also the first time I'd been places like Jim Thorpe and those are some of the most gorgeous roads I've ever ridden.

>>>>>1996 Pocono BRAG ride

I met Erik for the first time

I got my first copy of Battle 2win and had Erik sign it.

I seen Court's Green S2 but didn't know who he was at the time.

No one got lost and we all rode pretty fast.

I was sitting in the stands during the famous wheelie. I have film pictures of the rider sitting on the wrecked bike back in the pits.

That "Jolt Cola guy" came to York Open house a few years later. I can't remember his name.

And the guy from Michigan, worked all day Friday, rode all night to Pennsylvania, rode in the BRAG ride. I think they took up a collection to get him a room for the night.

I had a puckering experience also, we were at speed coming up on a 90 degree turn, I hit some gravel near the center line and slide both wheels to the shoulder. I think body English, my MX experience and some luck was what saved me and everyone behind me.

I missed the flipper but did see Barney rip up the big track.

That was the day I decided to buy an S1. Funny how I ended up with that first bodywork from your/Eriks bike.

Ahhh . . you were there the day Erik took my personal S1 for the parade lap at Daytona. . . . I was sure, after that trip down pit row . . . I'd get it back in one piece.

That was a ball!

all these years and I didn't know that was your 97 Silver S1. I thought it was a new demo bike.
I also met Scott Miller at the Demo truck. I told him I work at York and he said they are going to have the demo truck at York's Open House, asked for my help in York and said, "I'll make you famous"

No .. not the silver one. Barney ripped up the track at Daytona . . . Buell's FIRST appearance on a race track. Barney had JUST been built. . . loaded on a trailer. . taken to Earl Small's for a showing and then to Daytona.

The silver S1 at Pocono was from the demo truck. . . I saw "WAS".

: )

Paul, I sold the S1 in 2007. I just wasn’t riding it.

In Sept 05 I traded my 03 XB9R on a 06 XB12X Ulysses. The 99 thunderbolt and the S1 just didn’t get much riding time. I sold the S1 and in March 07 traded the Uly on a 1125R. This week I’m trading the thunderbolt on a 2009 XB12X Ulysses. So I’ll just have the new Uly and the 1125R.

A few years ago I got into riding 4 wheelers. Check my profile picture, the current ATV is a 2007 Can-am Renegade 800.
BattleTrax is done in this area, Insurance just got to high to make it worth it.

I bet the racers were wondering why they couldn't buy the S1rr.

Hmmm... why can't we keep up with this silly demo bike with this washed up rider/engineer? Good stuff.

That day I also vowed to race at Daytona. Dreams do come true. Sadly could only afford to race a honda in CCS. I still think with a supersport prepped S1 I could kill the lightweight class even today.

That was a pretty inspirational day to say the least.

Too bad my local dealer never did any BattleTrax.

Wish i knew that. I would have liked to have your old S1. I never really got a real good chance to ride battletrax on my S1 it was kinda weird riding battletrax with a busted foot. I back packed a pair of boots and took off the walking cast so I could ride. I was a little gun shy. But I think I still had the 9th fastest time of the day remember I came to open house with the crutches strapped to the handlebars? That was the year I wrecked my ZRX1200R. I got real comfy on the Kawi was keeping up with Rudy and the rest of the experts on that bike, Just wonder how much better I would have been on the Buell seeing how I did so well on a 500lb bike with a poor suspension as compared to the Buells.

Hey BRAG was great fun! We had a peak of 12 members in EVV. Heck I was the director for 3 years running. That and $2.50 could get you a decent cup of coffee. Besides I have some real nice Home COming BRAG posters ;+}

Hey my Dealer gave me a year membership to BRAG when I bought my 1125r!

I hated to look a gift horse in the mouth but............... I burst the closers bubble and informed him that BRAG no longer existed. They at least gave me a year membership in HOG.

I went to pick up some parts at the dealer today and the owner asked me if I wanted any of the extra Buell stuff he has saved for me. One of them items was a BRAG book. I think it's the charter book or something. I told him I'd bring it home and look through it. Haven't got to it yet.

What BRAG needed was a massage parlor with some of those certain chics that like motorcycles and have massage theropy educations.

actually, BRAG did provide massages!

it was for the very appreciative participants in our 1-time-only California Adventure, when we hit Lake Tahoe

that reverie was soon destroyed by a tedious conversation with Peggy & other H-D suits present -
focused, rather unbelievably, on their repeated assertion that all items displaying a Buell Pegasus
always face to the left

I kid you not......

I'd requested a right-facing Buell P&A sticker sheet to accompany the cool left-facing sheet just released -
the Juneau crew dug in their heels & started pouring concrete around their feet,
all the while refuting multiple examples of right-facing Pegasus items present, in their plain sight

I gave up on those BRAG [really HOG] clowns [not Leslie, tho'] that very day.....
