Not in the Mineshafts! Where a man has to do his duty to mankind.

From IMDB
[Strangelove's plan for post-nuclear war survival involves living underground with a 10:1 female-to-male ratio]
General "Buck" Turgidson: Doctor, you mentioned the ratio of ten women to each man. Now, wouldn't that necessitate the abandonment of the so-called monogamous sexual relationship, I mean, as far as men were concerned?
Dr. Strangelove: Regrettably, yes. But it is, you know, a sacrifice required for the future of the human race. I hasten to add that since each man will be required to do prodigious... service along these lines, the women will have to be selected for their sexual characteristics which will have to be of a highly stimulating nature.
Ambassador de Sadesky: I must confess, you have an astonishingly good idea there, Doctor.

Of course J.T.Ripper can't run for president, he's gone. I was joking. ( though, he might be a better choice than some we've had since 1965. )

Hey Aesquire, I know of some nice unused mineshaft space up in the U.P. of MI. I bet you could go there, dig a deep hole and move right in man. Wow...You could vote yourself in as President of the shaft and everything for kicks. Stay there for about ten years, then dig yourself out and tell us all how it was. I really don't think you will have any luck finding young babes who wish to join you, but GOOD LUCK. If you DO (not), a man of your advanced years should bring a shit load of Viagra...hahahahaaaaaaaaa

Dude, have you SEEN the movie? It's a comedy.

Atlas E sites! Horizontal storage missile launch facilities make awesome garages. There was a company that builds Ultralights in one, a School in Kansas, It's a perfect house, for the Mother Earth news/This Old House guy who wants high efficiency underground living with a hanger that can carry a Cessna & a few Buells, cars, ( a lawn tractor, Hot tub, Pool room, Sauna, etc. } instead of it's legacy of mass death. There's a Scuba club in Texas (I think ) has a Minuteman silo full of crystal clear ground water. ( the vertical launch round hole in the ground type )

Pity I can't afford one though. There was a beauty in NY in the mountains that was converted to a real cool house.

The ultimate in recycling.

I'd kill for the NY site, it looks very nice, and it has a runway! I would so put a drag racing tree at the beginning of it : )

You could team up with some like-minded individuals and start your own commune

One thing about those former underground military complexes - I hope the Russians remembered to aim their missiles elsewhere.....lol

I lived at the end of the runway at Offutt field. At least 8 multi megaton ICBM's were aimed at my house. ( ok, they were AIMED at SAC headquarters, but the CEP ( circular error probability ) of Soviet missiles was bigger than the county .... we were just over the horizon from headquarters. Well inside the fireball )

Come to think of it, you have a point. I'd want to call the Russian Embassy and let them know it's no longer a missile site.

The horizontal Atlas sites are the coolest. Since the missile is in a big hanger, that has giant armor doors that open on top, and huge doors that open in the end, to back the missile into place, even after they salvage the overhead door mechanisms, it has a humungo garage space way bigger than my current house. When in operation the overhead door opens, the missile erects ( no viagra ) and launches vertically

No thanks on the Commune. I had an old lady that was into them, but the ideals pale before the reality. ( they seldom last long or end with peace )

Since the ladies in the mineshafts were to be chosen for their stimulating nature... I think no viagra would be needed. Vitamin b12 & vitamin I, yes.

But it is, you know, a sacrifice required for the future of the human race.
