Some people wanted to know what became of the last Buell produced. Now we know. It's going to the Barber Motorsports Museum.

Too bad they didn't donate a Barracuda.

At least that way we might be able to see one.

I have a better chance of seeing bigfoot. : |

Anony, anyone?

It's going to the Barber Motorsports Museum.

I figured it would go into HD Museum. The MoCo and there selfish ways would never let anything but the air cooled version be last off the line!

Buell Motorcycle Co. has donated the final motorcycle it manufactured to the Barber Motorsports Museum in Leeds, Ala. The company also donated several other representative models from its 26-year production history.

The final Buell, a 2010 Lightning XB12Scg, rolled off the assembly line at the East Troy, Wis., factory on Oct. 30.

Buell donated a total of 12 motorcycles to the collection, including a 1996 S3T Thunderbolt, a 1999 X1 Lightning, several clay model prototype mock-ups, and a pair of modified motorcycles used by stunt riders Craig Jones and Bubba Blackwell. (Bubba will be all Harley I’ve confirmed when he is back at High Country 17July2010)

“We’re very pleased to be able to add to the Barber Museum’s already extensive collection of Buell motorcycles, and hope that the many motorcycle enthusiasts who visit their museum will enjoy seeing these motorcycles along with the rest in their fine collection,” Jon Flickinger, president and COO of Buell Motorcycle Co., said in a news release.

Not at all... an XB is the most appropriate Buell model to be last off the line- it's the most successful model and the bike that made Buell a player on the world stage. XB's are the heart and soul of Buell.

I figured it would go into HD Museum

I think the H-D Museum should be allowed one Blast- that's it... it's all they deserve.

Interesting that they placed these bikes outside of their traditional home at Harley's museum... Perhaps they suspect that HOG(NYSE) will go under and they want these Buells in safe hands outside of the MoCo?

Can't think of a better place for those Buells to go. The Barber Museum is just stunning, and you can bet the bikes will get the care and attention they deserve.

Trust me, i glad it didn't go to HD, and im ok with it being an XB.

I'm just sayin......NO WAY would HD let it be a bike with a Rotax motor be the last offline!

I heard, on good authority, the last Buell to roll off the assembly line was a Blast??? I'm glad it was a Lightning though if that's the case.

Companies alway race to improve their street bikes...I will bet my Bike that Erik has not started EBR just to get bikes on the track...As soon as Buell is completely out of Harley (sale and service)...I think we will see a new line of Buell street motorcycles.

If any of ya'll get down Birmingham way you really need to stop by Barber. The place is the baddest MC museum I have ever seen.I spent about four hours wondering around the place.Lots of stuff I have never seen and didn't know existed.

  • Erik Buell on FB: Totally my own venture. The press release we did was pretty clear, but many may not have seen it. Harley-Davidson has granted Erik Buell Racing, LLC a license to manufacture new Buell race bikes based off the 1125 platform until the end of 2010. At that time the license will end, and we will not be able to build new Buell race bikes. We cannot build new Buell street bikes or new street Buell-labeled parts with my new company. Right now the only elves are folks helping me on the side because I am the only employee. That should change soon, and we hope to have staff on board by January 1st.

It's been a couple years since I've toured Barber. I love that place. Undoubtedly the best motorcycle collection anywhere. I just toured Udvar-Hazy for the first time and being a pilot I was amazed. Barber impresses me every bit as much. If I am in Birmingham for more than a couple of hours, I make a point of getting to the museum.

I know I will enjoy my next visit more than the last with a bunch of interesting Buells added to the inventory.

That is good news! At least these bikes will be well cared for.
And, they will also most likely see time on the track as well.

Many of the bikes/cars in Mr. Barber's collection are taken out for a "walk" every so often.

Barber Motorsports Park... Proof that Dairy farmers aren't JUST about pulling teets!
