Not to mention, how under his fine leadership, we as Americans are now hated around the world for his backward actions on international affairs. Lastly, do I even need to point out the state of the economy those right wingers left us with...Obama has been handed a HUGE mess and in my opinion is doing a fine job so far..

The right-wingers left us with a terrible economy. OK. Maybe. But the very last thing they did before they left was a giant, democrat-style bailout. So hate Bush all you want, I'm not his biggest fan, but he did what Obama would have done if it had happened a few months later - he threw money at the problem. And it's the same tactic we've been using ever since.

And hated all over the world? That's quite a statement. I understand we're hated in the Muslim world - since they keep trying to kill us - but all over the world? Really?

I don't exactly have the warm fuzzies for the rest of the world either right now, so I guess that's fair.

Plenty of crap-slinging going on in this administration too. Plenty for EVERYONE.

Obama may have been handed a huge mess, but it hasn't gotten any smaller yet, despite the administrations (erroneous) projections on jobs, the economy, whatever. It's all lip service.

I'm still waiting for an explanation on the "Surge & Exit" strategy. Anyone able to explain that yet?

Contrary to popular belief, I don't think anyone here is a "bad person" if they choose to be "100% behind Obama." You have a right to make that decision. I don't refute that right.

I however can't square up Obama's speech at West Point with his words on the campaign trail and his action immediately prior to said speech. I was under the impression in '08 that Obama would finally get Osama and that Afghanistan was the "good war." Now I'm being told we're outta there in 18 months and nothing about "victory" or "winning." What's changed?

As for other countries "liking" the USA, I personally don't care. I haven't in a LONG time. What I want is respect. That's what keeps things like USS Cole, Khobar Towers, Beirut barracks, etc. from happening. It's that whole "Speak softly and carry a big stick" thing.

As for Obama being handed a $h!t sandwich upon taking office, no argument from me about it. But when should I expect him to start taking ownership/responsibility instead of blaming everything on the previous administration? I'm a little tired of that worn out recording. I'd like to hear "The buck stops hear" again & know something is actually being done other than pointing fingers.

I don't want much, just LEADERS.

I have a very, very, bad feeling, we as a nation, have not hit rock bottom yet though. I can only look to the history of the 30's and 40's as an example of what it might take to right the ship.

Bush's foreign policy vs. Obama's?
Too early to tell. Some things you just can't blame the President for.

Bush got the Islamic threat handed him, and it was not helped by Clinton. Osama said so.
Obama, even though I am skeptical of his attitude, got handed a war I don't believe he got to vote on. The Iraqi front seems to be winding down as nicely as you could expect, Even though most "media" just quit reporting on it. The Afghan front is hotter than ever, and Moore has no clue. I'm hoping the President does.

All that idiot did was sling lies and crap and get us involved in a bullshit war that nearly bankrupted the country.

Ok, crap, that's subjective, I assume you still see it fountaining forth from D.C.? I sure do. The spurts look higher to me than a few years ago, but, that's subjective, and not worth an argument, at all, at all. As long as we agree that the pool is large & omnipresent.

Lies? I did hear a few from Bush. I don't off the top of my head remember them, but I did call "bullsh&t" during a few speeches these last 10 years. ( any crap about how all those dead Kurds & Iranians couldn't have been killed with WMD's Saddam didn't have gets contempt. Enemy propaganda is not wisdom. )

On the ethical issue, I wouldn't compare Bush & Obama. ( though a count of criminals in cabinets for the last 50 years would be entertaining. )

Yeah, I do have to agree, Afghanistan is a bullfd$t war. These poor thugocrats running that poor country were, by their own religion, bound not to surrender Osama to us. It's one of the more noble things about Islam. I can't quote it, ( no handy reference )But if you give a man salt ( food & shelter ) he is under your protection, you must shelter him, even if he is a criminal and the authorities come for him. I don't know how many suras that's in, but it figures large in the commentaries ( I forget what they are called, been a while ) stories where entire families were wiped out protecting a criminal from being taken. Some stories the guest was unworthy of protection, but it is still a blessing to do so. ( with a strong undercurrent that the odds are better that those who pursue are the evil ones )

Osama had gifted the Taliban with millions$$ and he was their protected guest. They couldn't turn them over. So, in tradition we helped the local warlords take out the Taliban.

The problems of establishing a national govt. there that doesn't suck? Thats where the real bull555t lies. Let's hope Obama does well.

I even half agreed with President Obama during his campaign when he promised to invade Pakistan & take out AQ & the Taliban there. I just thought he shouldn't say it. Seemed like a bad thing to announce. Just freaking do it. Yehaa! Hawaiian Cowboy! ( or is it South Side Barry? either way, you go Sir. )

I sure don't know how to do it without crossing the border & taking them out in Pakistan. & I don't know how to do that in diplomatic terms.

As for the "thought" behind that statement, amazing how it gets used depending upon who is in office. Just an observation.

I'd still like someone to give me an answer on "Surge & Exit" though. Seriously. I don't understand what this is realistically supposed to accomplish. I would really like someone to explain it to me.

I'd also like someone to explain to me why people are so vehemently against Palin, yet see no problem with Bozo, er, Biden when he repeatedly exhibits the same (or worse) stupidity Palin has been accused of.

Case in point, Palin "is creepy" yet Biden "is harmless." Biden is an elected official, Palin isn't. Who should we be holding to a higher standard?

We had a saying for similar circumstances in the military, "You have to respect the rank. You don't have to respect the man wearing it." Put another way, respect is earned.

Well I didn't vote for Obama, and I didn't vote for George Bush either, and I remember shirts with GW's pitcher or name on it that read "Not my President" I remember Bill Maher and Michael Moore calling Bush a "nazi", "moron", the "anti-christ" and much more from many others, I shouldn't even have to point out Olbermann should I? So, since the stage has been set for whatever attacks people want to make by those of the left leaning persuasion, enjoy the hatred, the polarization didn't start with Bush, but it was perfected under him on both sides. I think all politicians are scumbags equally, some either less scummy or better at not getting caught than others, but all cheats, liars and scumbags. Considering my first amendment rights to speak freely, you can ignore me and that is your right, but I and others can criticize, insult, be rude and in fact completely disrespectful, point out failures, be skeptical and more until we are content or not, all still protected speech. So for the record, he may be elected, but he is definitely NOT my president, he is all yours : )

Nice sentiment, but not entirely correct. The 1st Amendment is a RIGHT, granted to us by our creator(s) and is self evident. But to tell you the truth, I've never heard any of my buddies tell me they enjoyed getting shot at because of the Bill of Rights, the Constitution, etc. They were there to cover my back, just as I was there to cover their's. Now as far as a motivating factor as for why they joined the military, some did express a desire to defend our RIGHTS as a reason. It was not "THE" reason they voluntarily went into $h!tholes with me though.

Why is that you ask? Simple, he lost me as soon as he tried to screw Disabled Vets, which he didn't get away with.

So, put me down in the "He's not my President" crowd. If you don't like/can't accept that from me, I will gladly accept your berating of me just as soon as you go back & berate those who said the same thing during the previous administration.

On the bright side, he does have 3 years to attempt to change my opinion. I'm not overly optimistic that will happen though.

I refer you back to the Declaration of Independence. My God did give me my rights. He gave me my Life. He gave me my Liberty (which includes speech btw). He gave me my ability to pursue happiness. Self evident truths.

That's what every American soldier is fighting to up hold. Nothing more, nothing less.

Close. Our service members take an oath to protect & defend our Constitution against all enemies, foreign or domestic.

You may have your own personal reasons for why you serve, but in whole, that's not why you swear to defend the nation.

Again, it's a nice sentiment to have, thinking that our Service Members in harms way face danger defending the Constitution as their sole motivating factor. That whole, "I'm doing it for Mom & apple pie" routine. That may be all, part, or none of the reason(s) behind their wish to serve.

It's not however the reason they charge machine guns, jump on hand grenades, stand guard duty in indian country, etc. They do it for the man to the left of them & the man to the right of them. They do it for their brothers in arms.

You do know that the Constitution was/is on the Commandant's reading list, right?

Something you might not know is that we had pocket sized booklets containing the Constitution & the Declaration of Independence at most commands. A lot of us used to carry them around everywhere with us. Along with a pocket sized bible. Gave us something to read in the midst of a "hurry up & wait" lifestyle.

I would caution you on making generalizations about what you perceive someone else's grasp is of these documents without knowing what their background is. I assure you that your link is not the 1st time I've read the Constitution.
