Could not sleep so I thought that I would take of this. My nationality is American through and through however my Great Great Great Great Grand Dad was Scottish, so was his wife. Their son married a good Scottish lass and so on down the line. There is a mix of Irish and English with some German thrown in to even out the temperment a bit. My question this week is where are your ancestors from? Thanks for sharing! | ||

My father's side great grandparents Ireland and Sweden I have the Ellis Island papers on my Great Grandmother and her ship papers! My Mother's side is Scandinavian. | ||

Was just having discussions about this with my grandfather over the holiday... Paternal grandfather's family is all French and German - not sure exactly how my great-great-grandfather got here as he was a Frenchman escaping the Prussian army at the time, but he arrived sometime in the 1870-80's I think. Paternal grandmother is all from Slovakia or thereabouts and that family got here about the same time. Mom's side I'm really not sure - people know but I haven't had those discussions yet, but I do know that's is mostly French and German on that side as well with some Scot, Irish and English mixed in. No idea when they got here. Yup, I'm a mut, pure American. | ||

Mother's side is English and family history says we go all the way back to the Mayflower. Back in the 1930’s an attempt was made to document the fact. They found birth records for all but one generation leading back to the very beginning of our country. On my father's side it's all German. We can document the family coming from Germany and arriving in Pennsylvania in 1750. I see myself as an unhyphenated American. So like my dog, I’m an American All Breed. We still aren't sure... It is believed that perhaps we are Norse, or maybe a Germanic tribe somewhere... All we do know is that 7 brothers came over from somewhere overseas and spread across the US. | ||

Norway, Ireland, ( so some spanish & lots of other norse ) Plus who knows where the Viking side dragged home captives/wives from. Also hints of American Indian, great plains tribes. American Mutt. | ||

I just found out that a Scottish Highlander on my father's side came to the colonies in 1750 and all four sons fought in the American Revolution and so did he... many of my ancestors faught in the Civil War with Illinois soldiers too... Also Norweigan, German and British... | ||

My father's side is from Denmark. Both my grandparents migrated to the US when they were kids, and met at Dana College, Omaha, NE. Most of that side of the family still resides in Elk Horn, IA (near No-rice). My moms side is total mutt! So I guess I'm half Dane, and half mutt! I'll have to ask mom if she has any history about her side. | ||

Moms parents : 1 Greek immigrant from Andros, 1 1st gen American Greek from Morgantown, WV. Pops: grandpa is 2 or 3rd gen Irishmen, grandma is 2nd or 3rd gen German. Euromutt ftw! | ||

Great Grand Mother was Choctaw Native American. so I am a belligerent by proxy (she was mean, mean just to be mean) Never met the dad, so I imagine that he could be anything, though the name is Scottish via Canada. I probably more closely align myself with Russia, Russian Culture, Russian language. If I could make money there, and ride my bike, I would be there. Who knows, once the house sells... At least the Russians are currently embracing capitalism  | ||

Dad's side,Portugese. Mom's are Scotch,Irish,English,Dutch & German. As luck would have My wife is 1/2 Portugese and 1/2 second Gen. Chinese. My son and daughter always groan when this question comes up. |
