I was this close to snagging a set of used M2 headlight brackets off of Ebay to use on my XB, when I happened to notice a disclaimer by the seller:

"These are for the traditional forks and will not work on the USD models"

After looking up some pictures of the M2, I believe "USD" means "upside down", or inverted forks, like the XB uses. Is this true? Anyone have any experience trying to mount an M2 headlight on XB forks?

Yes, it will not fit.

You will likely need the one from an X1.

You'll need S1 brackets or X1, if you want to stick with Buell parts. I'm rebuilding my M2 with USD forks & Rocket kindly sent me a pair of spare S1 brackets he had. The dif between the X1 & S1 is that the X has extra tabs for mounting the flyscreen whereas the M2 flyscreen is like the S1 with separate tabs.

I've just checked the fork diameters of both my TT & the tuber, they appear to be the same dia at the top triple clamp, however the XB forkleg isn't a straight cylinder like the S1/X1 leg, it has a narrowing that then flares out to a larger dimension at the bottom triple clamp.

I'd guess they'd fit but you'll need to tuck them snug under the 3c to get them properly tight.

One possibility would be to cut the clamp section in half & use a rubber or plastic liner & stainless hose clamps.

Best of luck with it, I look forward to seeing the result.

Grumpy, thanks for the info. I'm getting an M2 screen to go on it as well (and therefor the M2 screen brackets), so I guess that means I would need the S1 headlight brackets?

Wow, this is taking a lot of research!

EDIT: I'm considering a Puig Raptor screen as well, if I can find one for cheap in the US.
