Yeah rocket, I love you man, but your starting to sound like a chiwawa. This is the best news we have heard about Buell since, since, SINCE FOREVER!!!!!
seeing the excitement back in Erik in the video on Buell.com was great, so much better than that other video. The www.erikbuellracing.com website already has almost 5000 hits.
Im hoping that Eric looks so happy in that vid because he knows this is a stepping stone to a bigger plan. Having a "race shop" is cool for him, but for me not so much. Dont get me wrong, if thats all he wanted, Im happy for him. I ride a lot so these 2 Buells I own will not last forever. I want to buy another new Buell motorcycle in the future. Not necessarily tomorrow but in a few years. That is what I am ultimately hoping for.
(Unless the BarracudaII comes out, then yes tomorrow!!!I must have one!)
RPM, those were my thoughts too. It really warms my heart to see EB doing something that he loves....but I'm worried it kinda leave me out in the cold with my Uly and hope for something along those lines with the Rotax engine.
I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed that this is a stepping stone and not the destination.
For starters um money? If HD still is supplying everything still under the license of HD how is Erik going to get any funding if its still under HD? Maybe I'm reading into the release wrong, hopefully I am.
Racer Incentive (Contingency). There has to be an interest to race the bikes. Granted not necessarily on the club level (God knows Im not fast enough for contingency money lol but I still race) and I will still have my XB12R and 1125r out on the track next year no matter what.
The AMA is going to be a huge can of worms I feel and well it can obviously go one of two ways. If they work the rules in EBR's favor then we will still have to listen to the cries of the import guys, this time around it would be much worse I assume and Erik will be picked apart even more than usual (not saying that he cant take it).
Now I know this just the first step, but its almost as if HD did this just to shut us up.
Yeah I know this is how Erik started in the beginning, but it still doesnt seem like this is the solution. Racing will get Buell more exposure, but its also going to cost a LOT to just keep and develop race bikes with no intent on marketing them for street.
I dont know, am I missing something here?
Granted, Erik looks happy in the video and that is certainly enlightening but we still have the issue of everyone else at Buell without jobs, no parts support for our XB model bikes (God help you if you need Tuber parts), and no street bike from Erik Buell.
Please dont get me wrong, I am happy that its something. Like I said, I will forever continue to support Erik Buell no matter where he ends up and I will continue to race Buell or Erik Buell Racing motorcycles.
Chris as a Tuber owner and an 1125 owner, I am actualy more concerned about getting '25 parts, The XB guys are in the worst way because the engines are different enough from sportster engines that many parts will be an issue,
other than rubber mounts ( rear only ) and perhaps FI related items or perhaps cranks Tuber owners can get parts
if need be sporties could be parted out... gotta have sumpin to get parts for mutant chopperz from Buells are too valuable ( or will be shortly )
Cityxslicker Posted on Friday, November 20, 2009 - 08:30 pm: Now how do we have to cajoul or ruff up at the AMA to get the Rooster Green Lighted again?
Race it all you want, I already have the light/plate kit for it
No. Erik hates dirtbikes and the one person that still wants him to build it.
I spend a day working on the house and not checking BadWeb, and look what happens!
Now let me get this right... A few months ago Buell Motorcycle Company had a range of 9 motorcycles (and an ottoman), had 200 employees producing leading edge motorcycles, was getting more and more good reviews in the press, won it's first AMA championship and, as we now know, had some fantastic bikes in the works to be released some time in 2010. On top of that the 1125RR was released, the race department was gearing up for a follow up to the Daytona Sportbike championship, and Erik was starting his own race team.
Now all of that has been taken away except for the race team, the race shop and the ability to produce and race the 1125RR.
Yes, I'm simplifying things a lot, and I'm being cynical... but to me it still seems, I don't know, unjust... it doesn't seem *right*. It still sounds like Buell Motorcycle Company, which Erik and the Elves have done so much with in 26 years, is being eliminated by H-D.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Erik will be racing, I'm glad he's leaving H-D, and I'm glad some of BMC will still be able to work with him. If I understand things correctly it means the 1125R can still race DSB, and the 1125RR in AMA Pro Superbike. I hope it means EB will be developing new products in the background while waiting out his non-compete contract.
So, I should sit on my hands and bite my tongue for a spell? I can handle that. Good news, but a plethora of questions just popped up. I'll try hard to be patient.
