Buell used many "off the shelf" parts in his design. That is, parts that are not made by Buell, or exclusively for Buell.
Parts like the drive belt, engine management sensors, front isolator, etc...

So if Buell is truly dead, then shouldn't the parts contracts be void.

And, if said contracts are void, could we (Buell faithful) buy such parts from straight from the suppliers?

Something to think about...

Buell is dead but everything is still owned by Harley.

Since Buell MC is dead, at least for now, and certain proprietary parts like ECMs are not to be produced again, I would like to see the ECM EEPROM's structure and maps for all the discontinued Buell models be documented and made available to us and the aftermarket.

If that info were known, aftermarket companies or suppliers could conceivably re-create modules or reproduce and/or modify the mapping. That's not too much different from what one would need to know about the size and type of jets, needles, slide cutaways, etc. that are in the parts catalog for tuber carbs.

Yes, ECMSpy has been there and done that, but only as a skunkworks type operation. It's not a legal enterprise authorized by the Factory.

Therefore the Factory should disclose the various EEPROM structures, codes and mapping.
