I think that people who do feel threatened and feel that they need to be armed, generally attract violence more than they repel it.
I find it strange that you seem to equate people who desire to be armed as "feeling threatened" instead of taking reasonable precautions to protect themselves & their loved ones.
As for "attracting violence" I did that in my youth. I survived it & learned along the way. I no longer "attract" violence, nor seek it out, but I don't necessarily run away either. All depends on the situation. Sometimes being a good citizen means you have to step in to defend others who are unable to defend themselves.

My wife doesn't need protection I also noticed everytime she leaves the house the birds come back the squirrels frolic and the black bear will venture to and fro. And this strange peaceful music seems to drift lightly across the breeze aahhhh. I'm sorry what was this thread about

>>>>Violence begets violence.
Bullshit
I was sitting in front of a house at 1610 Plass in a nice neighborhood of Topeka, KS at 11:00pm on a Sunday night after returning from a church group function.
I did nothing.
Terry Cushinberry and Gary Ferrell drove by in a 1966 Chevrolet and opened up on my sister, myself and 5 friends and unloaded a Remington automatic shotgun full of #4 and #5 shot from about 20 yards away.
My sister, hit in the face with the center of the pattern, and Tim McGuire were both in commas for several days.
Take your "violence begets violence" thinking and stuff it up your ass.
I was a victim one time it my life.
It will never happen again and I'm certain, due to my time in the United States Marine Corps and with the United States Secret Service, that I am the product of overreaction.
I am a firm believer that when a person produces a handgun that the first two rounds should already be away by the time the offender even sees the weapon.
I spent a lot of time and effort becoming a firearms expert and I hope I never have to use it.

I had no idea you had been through something like that. Of course that experience is going to affect you deeply.
You write that you won't be a victim again but my reality is that I have never been a victim in the first place. The worst thing that has ever happened to me was about 20 years ago somebody stole the spare tire from my truck. That's it. I have never been shot at, never assaulted, never even been burglarized. Maybe I don't have anything worth stealing, I don't know. I know that it's probably 95% dumb luck. I just don't feel that I need a gun for protection.

Let me know if quoting Anne Frank ever works on stopping an attacker.
The vast majority of people in the world are good and are no threat to me. There are some nut cases out there, but they are few and far between. I can't possibly protect myself against nut cases. Maybe I'll be gunned down by a nut case tomorrow. If it happens, it happens, but I refuse to waste time worrying, preparing or readying myself for that slim possibility. Life is too short for that.
I do not feel threatened enough going through day to day life that I feel I need a gun to protect myself. I just don't.
Guns, and in particular the colt revolver served the historical purpose of equalizing power. Guns can't prevent all bad things from happening but they can equalize the fight when it comes to that.
There were a group of defenseless Amish school girls lined up and murdered a few years ago. Some of the children survived particularly the boys. The Amish culture has to deal with this. They don't see violence as a very helpful path forward but I don't speak for them.
Some cultures might create a memorial or some might want to do what they could to move past it. Not easy tasks after such a horrific event on the defenseless. Different cultures take different approaches.
we've had more than our share of shootings in and around the tampa bay area lately. you just never know when something is going to happen and i would rather be prepared.

Truly then...why waste so much time explaining your pacifist view on a gun thread? It contributes nothing to the OP.
Sorry, photo did not upload,Mad Max movies on, didn't have time to figure it out. There are alot of scarry stories out there. I feel very fortunate I live where I do. But not far away in Reading and Allentown, PA every morning there are news stories about gun violence. I don't blame people for wanting to protect themselves!!!
well it seems that things aren't getting any better around this area. they seem to be getting worse. and i don't want to be much less my wife. i've been broken into along with truck stolen. luckily, no family member around when that happened. but might not be so lucky next time.
2 German Shepherds and a Great Dane are on guard at ALL times! Nothing steps into my yard let alone in the house! Once, someone tried to break into my garage and the dogs woke me up so i let em loose. They ripped off the guys back pocket as he jumped over my fence! I now have a sign that reads, "I make it to the fence in 2.5 seconds, can you?"
I've settled for a unique combination . . . two heads of the "five families" on the block and a sign on the basement window that reads simply . . . "THINK TWICE . . . do you have anything you MUST do tomorrow?"
