I had a Brutale chasing me a few months ago.
It was matte black, think it was a 910.

Friend has a 750 and loves it although he doesn't get along with the seat.

Of course you were snobbed. That olive oil swilling bung-whiff is riding fine Itralian art, what you have is merely a motorcycle.

How about that Subaru 360?

I'm thinking it'd be way cool to have one for local driving.

They sold a few here in CA in the long-ago days... but they WERE kinda cool in a micro-car kinda way.

And they even had a van (teensy things - BOTH of them)

Dana, if they really are getting those kind of wheel numbers from 2.0 ltr 4 cylinder motors they must be spending absolutely thousands. Now there might be the odd one that has, but those numbers are just unbelievable, even with a turbo! Surely? Where are the graphs for these monsters?

I don't know what the drive train loss is on a 4WD such as in a Scooby, but 450 at the wheels must be at least 500 at the crank. If such is true I'll eat my soc........ oh wait. Not again, lol.

Ok, so put it another way. Whilst the Buick / Rover V8 does not boast a particularly great head design, it can still be made to make a lot of reliable power, but from experience I can tell you that anything in excess of 300HP is bloody good, even if that's a wheel measurement. There are plenty of TVR Rover derived engine models that have been well tuned to put out up and over 400HP, but that kind of performance either comes from SC or very very deep pockets. And in a car that weighs a tad over 1000kg, 250HP is well enough to get the average driver into bother, never mind anywhere around 450 give or take. So I don't see how a Scooby 4 pot turbo can produce those numbers when a 5.0ltr V8 TVR, even a SC one at that, would struggle to do so.

Of course, I am talking English cart horses here.

Indeed, an MV is art on two wheels. Olive oil swilling bung-whiff eye tie, or long haired middle aged Yorkshire greebo riding one.

Just because a motorcycle is exotic enough to be owned by some as an expression of their good fortune and wealth, it would be a mistake to blame the motorcycle.

When I get my Brutale I'll ride in Levis and leather - darling!

Yeah Thats counts for many of them. But since I have become a member of as Subaru forum and have met about 30 owners in my area. Most have the average mods. Don't knock the mufflers some of them might be noise makers but some are not. A subie can gain some good power off just exhaust mods. Theres about 12 of the guys that I met that their cars are pushing 450 WHP. One of the guys is almost 600 and on pump gas.

I used to feel the same as you till I opened my mind to it some.

Not sure how you think I feel or what opening my mind to it means. I like the Subaru's and deal with many who have them that put down big HP numbers. Just went for a ride in a few. One had a "dog box" dog engagement gear set that we were shifting with no clutch off of the rev limiter. It shifts really fast. The other was an auto trans (his wifes daily driver) with some engine work and a stall converter that would pull away spinning all 4 tires.

As for the "Fart Buggies", I'm talking about the ones with a loud, obnoxious crappy muffler just so it can be loud and it sounds like it farting. It's often a 19forgotten, clapped out Honda that's owner thinks it needs to be run at 7000rpm all day and night just because.

Thought you guys might enjoy this if you haven't seen it already. If you have, enjoy again.

Looking around the Internet it seems 300 HP is the high end of power for the latest WRX special models. Those modified efforts pushing out either side of 500HP are full on rally car spec and not the WRX available from the dealer.

When I say 300hp is easy achievement this is what I'm doing. Also have been talking with them as to who can do it in my area seeing they are not. Lucky there is about 1hr or so from me. This is them getting real close to 300 with under 1000 dollars in upgrades. This is my car.

If you look at even Dyno pulls on WRX on youtube you'll see 450 hp and even more. Yes they put money into them to do it. But even with the money spent these guys are on the street and running pump gas.

I don't know, but my $25 pledge still stands.

I can't believe that I'm the only one who's down for the cause. My lump sits in the back corner of the shed with a spent mill, gathering cobwebs, while a japanese ride now fulfills my needs.

And yet I care enough to contribute!
Boy, I really thought that badwebbers cared. I guess it was all talk.

Dana, I'm seeing full on works rally car spec engines pushing those super high numbers. There surely can't be many of those around, can there? That kinda money, I wouldn't be into a family car, but something much more desirable with that kind of HP.

But no argument, I can see Youtube has a few Scoobies with those numbers. Exceptions to the norm me thinks?

As for your numbers. Yes I would think 300 is achievable for not too much money. Wouldn't you rather buy a car with racing car pedigree in the design for the same money that hots up a Scoobie to 500HP or so?

Go on buy a Vette. You know you want to, lol.

Sean,

Funny you say it but Since I owned the car I've I started to pay attention to others like mine. Yeah lots of them are normal every day with a fart can. But like us here.... Buell fans. I found the almost same community. These guys are hard core on there cars. Check out a web site called www.nasioc.com . Theres alot of what your looking for there. These car in my opinion do have a race pedigree in Rally and sedan racing. The handling is just phenomenal. I'm only going to take it so far. I need it for daily transportation. But enough done to put a whoopin on a cobra mustang,Vette... not the big guy.... you get the picture. I'm having fun with it anyways. I bought the premium WRX with the SPT exhaust. The reason I bought this instead of the STI model is theres more to gain easier then the STI.

Actually Cory did state that after riding the 1125RR, not before as Court stated. He was in a conversation asking someone why in the world H-D bought MV when they had bikes as good as the Buell. He had tested the F4 AMA Superbike and so had been on both. I guess the answer simply should have been that H-D had no idea what they were doing with sportbikes, as that has become clear.

Of course, his opinion was that of an AMA racer though, not a street customer, and missed the point people buy MV's to look at them, not ride them hard.

Well, if someone just wants to look at a beautiful motorcycle, all they need is a 1995 BUELL S2 Thunderbolt.
Simply the most gorgeous bike ever built. And a damn good handling bike to boot!

Whilst I understand your need for anonymity you blow the credibility of your statement, and that of the AMA racer with that last dumb comment.

It's obvious those with a few quid \ bucks to chuck around looking to buy a status symbol bike, chances are they'd buy an MV. But you know what, there's a world full of Ferrari owners that buy them for the car and not the pose. MV amongst true bikers is no different. What is somewhat telling though is an 1125RR has an Italian engine!

I had four friends buy the first F4's when they came out years ago. I don't think one of them has 1,000 on them yet.

But. . . that's a sample size of 4.

Of course . . 4 represents more than 1% of the total production.

quote:

F4 750 Serie Oro

F4 750 Serie OroThe first F4 model released to the public was the F4 750 Serie Oro on May 1999. Only 300 examples were produced. Many parts such as the swingarm, frame side plates and wheels were made from magnesium. These magnesium parts were anodized gold for consistency with the name 'Oro' (Italian for gold). All painted parts, such as fairings, seat cover, front mud guard and even the fuel tank and air box are made of carbon. It's only by using these materials that the weight could be kept under 400lb which is only beaten by the F4 Veltro. The specially for MV Agusta developed Showa fork has fast detach axle clamps. The six piston (front) and 4 piston (rear) brake calipers are made from Nissin. MSRP $57,000

I confess the 2006 MV Agusta F4CC is some real eye candy. Wonder why no one competed on one . . .I'd love to watch that $120,000 MV duke it our with a $39,000 1125RR.

P.S. - In all fairness you do get a watch and a jacket for the $120,000.

Don't you guys ever tire of pigeon holing yourself into the Buell corner? Instead of asking Corry, why not ride one yourself? Are you afraid you might like it? Or is it that you might find something more revealing than sticking to riding Buell?

These threads always begin the same.

And end the same.

Part of "pigeon holing" is being placed in the position whereby you feel you must defend that which you love.

Why must all these threads begin with "XYZ is better than Buell" and end with "you guys are all just Buell fan boys".

I don't think an MV compares to a Buell any more than a Z06 compares with an F430.

If I could afford to buy an F430, I wouldn't care what the performance specs of the Z06 were.

I've always been fascinated by the indignation of those surprised to find Buell fans on a Buell website.

Boggles the mind.

I think the more important comment from Annon was how lost HD is about sport bikes. Now the chiefs at HD believe going backwards in time will pull them out of the slide. Corporate America is so predictable. They make the same decisions over and over and expect new results.
