I run an early '96 S2, which is a pre-harley model.
I'd say Buell was doing a far sight better before they were HD-owned.

While my scoot cost over $13,000 out the door (I have the original sticker, even though I'm the 2nd owner)in '95, it was well worth it.

The hand-welded Aluminum oil bag, the exquiaite curves of the fore section of the frame, and the hand-molded bodywork all spoke to an era of craftsmanship long gone.

A gambling investor with a ken sense of what to look for in a marketing exec could easily sell the Buell's original "Track & Boutique" charm.

The same spokesdroid that blathered on about 'Too Deeply Integrated' also claimed that 'the decision is irreversible'. Regardless of the truth of the deeply integrated crap, no decision is irreversible. HD decides it wants to own MV Agusta for example. A year or so later, voila! decision reversed.

You'd think spokespeople would have at least a basic grasp of the english language.

An investment group will never buy a company that loses money and has no dealer network.

Really? News to me...

It is a very different financial environment than it was during the cruiser craze. Much different and more conservative financial world.

That's not the Indian of 1999-2003 era. He's talking about the New new Indian with their 30K bikes and a handful of dealers. Likely to go under even quicker than before.

The (company formerly known as buell) products and pricing would have appeal to a much greater number of potential dealerships if ones outside the hd sphere are given a chance.

The Indian dealership in Detroit ought to do well this year, maybe they can take on the Steven Tyler brand m/c too. Indian had a semi-trailer of bikes unloaded out side and across the street from the Harley dealershow in Denver this past July.
