Thanks for sharing and representing Buell owner's who could not attend. I keep reading these "Last Ride" threads with mixed emotions...happy to see the turn out and support offered to BMC elves and Erik but so sadden by the reason for the ride. I keep looking for the silver lining... |

I was intently listening EB's words while he spoke to us after lunch, kept hoping to hear a glimmer of hope, a little hint at what's to come...I heard nothing promising. I sat next to Abe yesterday at lunch, I leaned over and asked..."how long will it be before he heads back out to the barn?" he said with a smile, "who said he hasn't been out there already?" We can hope. |

I keep looking for the silver lining... I just sent the Elves a card, in it I used a quote by Ronald Reagan. "Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem." Every person involved in making this brand successful, and it was successful, made a difference. While it's not the silver lining that is going to put roof over their heads after HD shuts the doors and turns out the lights, or the silver lining of us having the opportunity to purchase a new Buell off the showroom floor, it is a silver lining each and ever time we crank over our wonderful bikes. My wife kept trying to figure out how we could have made the ride, she loved her first motorcycle. The Buell Blast, and it got me involved in the Buell scene because I soon fell in love with the Ulysses and had to have one. Alas, with our daughter in school, and living in Texas, we couldn't make the ride in person. But as I showed her the photos this morning before work, she said "I wish we could have been there." Buell and the elves made a difference, and the proof is in how everybody on this board has tried to do something to give back to the company and its workers that gave so much to us. It's not perfect, but it's the best I think most of us can do to come up with a silver lining. Wayne |

I sat next to Abe yesterday at lunch, I leaned over and asked..."how long will it be before he heads back out to the barn?" he said with a smile, "who said he hasn't been out there already?" Do you think it's a little coincidental that the barn was restored and opened to the press earlier this year? And that several previously "top secret" stories were told by Erik during that interview? Maybe he knew what as coming then and was already making preparations... |

I took about 130 pictures and a few video's. I'll work on the video's next, but here's the link to all my pictures: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikef5000/sets/721576 22550501741/ And my favorites! Announcing our arrival: Blast/XB Super-Moto leading a group in: Blast engine/frame/forks - XB wheels/brake/fuel injection system/swingarm - Yamaha seat/tail What you can't tell is that these Buells are double parked all the way down, plus there's another row on the opposite side of the lot! Oh, and this truck looked amazing! Unofficial group picture: Me and my interviewer: Now we move into the factory! I'll limit these pictures, but I took TONS so click the link above to see them all! Race video's being projected on the wall! Race Banners and a whiteboard full of farewell cards! Those of you mailing cards and letters, THEY ARE GETTING THEM! Very cool. Masa handing over a book of letters from Japanese Buellers: Some Factory Parking Lot Repairs! Notice the broken strap sitting on the bench: Followed by roadside repairs! Notice he lost the linkage bolt somewhere along the freeway, so Mark ziptied an allen wrench in there! Worked perfect! Middle of the night, middle of nowhere. Cold, wet, and dark. And finally there's this... after less than one week I've got over 1300 miles on my new XT!

Absolutely great pictures Mike. Made me feel like I was there even though I could not make the trip from Utah. Littlebuggles did however to represent our rather small community of dedicated Buell riders here. A thanks to him for representing us and a thanks to you for all the pictures! And another thanks to all who posted videos and pictures for us who could not make it there. A truly memorable tribute. Carry on Buellers. I certainly will. Bob |

What happened to the shift linkage on the way home? The little allen screw didn't want to go back to Columbus.... so we had to do a roadside repair |

Here are my pics. Not the best but I got some and sure wish I had taken many more.
Ratbuell and my steed's ready for a day in the rain.
Group from Ohio and WV in the lot too.
looks good in white
Early at Hal's
Just kept coming in
Later at Hal's there would end up being even more
At the factory
even more bikes
Apparently the guy in the yellow suit purchased the yellow 1125R from Hal's that morning and was driving it home. To Portland, OR!!! Tough dude
They got the letters. This one is from a Mr. Hargis. Only name I recognized and mine wasn't up there.
Factory
Awaiting care at the hospital
Erik talking to all his peeps
Court and I
The reason I missed Erik's speech. I was outside talking with about 8 Buell employees about it and they were all very intrigued. Too bad the owner was inside listening to Erik because they had a bunch of questions. Neat bike though and I thought 'slicker might like it. A few even said put some knobbies on there and have some real fun. |

Awesome to see my letter made it to the bulletin board. I still can't believe Buell is being shut down. The feeling of sadness is on par with the death of a family member. |
