Riding from Antioch to New Berlin today, one of the best things happened to me. Rollin' up the interstate behind Kim (me on the Uly, her in the truck with the S1W in the bed and the GPS on the dash), we're the only 2 on the road for a stretch. Conversion minivan pulls up and paces alongside me for about a mile and a half or so, at 80mph. Curious, I look over. Guy smiles ear to ear as soon as I look over and holds a Buell baseball cap up to the window.

I smile (in a fullface - probably not helpful LOL) and give a thumbs-up. In retrospect, the Shocker would have been better....but it was so cool to have someone in a cage not only recognize what I was on, but take the time to "salute" it too.

nothing like a little ego lifter. love it.

coming home from work on the ultra a few weeks ago, came up on a guy on a firebolt and tried to get his attention to show him my buell gloves that i use most of the time but he wouldn't have anything to do with me. i wonder why? of course the only protection he had was a pair of sunglasses on. no atgatt in the least.

Joe, I've been on the four wheeler side of the scenario you describe. Heading home on I-395 after a grocery run in the truck, a Uly approaches from behind, notices the big oval BUELL sticker in the back window, and nods while passing. Good stuff.

In a sea of imports during a groupride, the lone thump-thump-thump of the American muscle between your legs : )

The other side of the coin:

quote:

In a sea of imports during a group ride...

the 30 second wail of the fan when everyone shuts down and you feel obligated to try explaining to the squids' deaf ears that your engine is preserving itself while theirs is overcooking their oil.
