1. what a torquey little bitch that 1203 motor is
2. how hard it is to turn around in a tight space
3. that you have to wear extra clothes since there is no fairing
4. that you don't have to shift as often (see #1 above)
5. that it seems like you are going 10-15 mph faster than the indicated speed
6. that your face shield gets dirtier (see #3 above)
7. how much attention the fan gets when you are stopped
8. how well the brakes work
9. how surprisingly comfortable they are to ride
10. and most importantly... that riding one can be almost a mystical experience

Eor- nice post.

BTW- Buell has changed the break-in recommendations since your 06 Uly. I remember reading you had oil usage problems with your Uly; the new break-in limits might help avoid that with your new Buell.

Oh dear God...don't mention oil usage! Three years of therapy are at stake.

Actually, thank for passing that on. I just checked the manual and see that I have already been following them pretty well, but could wind the engine up a little more than I've been.

I'm just trying to help you avoid a relapse!

They actually changed them in 07, which appears to be an admission they were too low prior to that.

#9 -- You've never ridden an S1, eh?

All other points, spot on!

Cell phones dont reach my favorite ride spots
Fall leaves, pretty in trees, bad on pavement
Mud is your friend only with the Chunky MT60s
Always pack a set of bearings and belt
Despite the spectacle I cause, I am invisible to cars
Animals are feeding earlier
The rains are just as wet as last season
Pack the spare gas and entrenching tool
Air down... remember to air up
That grin is only there when I get to ride the Dirty Buell.... I wonder why ; )

"7. how much attention the fan gets when you are stopped"

a comfort kit and the latest ecm flash will minimize that fan running while you're stopped.

welcome back Brad. We missed you!

I remember all the write-up you use to do about your Ulysses, so I went and bought one.

I remember Eor's Uly saga... I miss my Buell. If I wasn't 12,000 miles from home, the first thing I'd do is buy a Buell. There is something about them.

By the time I get back, I think the closest thing left will be the XR1200. Looking at the HD makes me wonder how they put on that extra 150lbs.
