I just wanted to post a quick note to all of you from a guy that got the chance to have one of the absolute coolest jobs in the world.

I started out with this whole Buell thing when I bought my S3T. Shortly after that I stumbled on to this site and met a whole group of people that struck a chord with me. The bug got me and I couldn't help but get involved and ended up helping lead a couple of different BRAG chapters. After a couple of years of that while working a perfectly good job somewhere else, I floated a resume over to East Troy. Well, it hit and I started perhaps the best job I will ever have. Since then I've spent my time working with some amazing people and worked on some incredible stuff, some you've all seen and some that will probably never be seen. I've had experiences that others never will with stories upon stories too unbelievable to make up (including what I am almost positive includes the first ever speeding ticket on an 1125 - so whoever the Uly rider was that posted that I looked like Santa Claus riding the just released to the public 1125R through the Kettle Moraine - well you saw me about 45 minutes after that... and many, many others (we'll leave some of the better ones for another time)) and for that I'm very thankful.

It's knowing this that will help me get through this. Sadly I'm going to have to go find a job that unfortunately will almost certainly feel like a step down from what I was doing, but in the end I know most people will work their entire lives and never have the opportunity I did. I have traveled the world seeing three different continents (not counting this one), ridden some of the finest race tracks in the country (and got paid for it!), talked with countless enthusiasts at demo events (and got paid for it!) and the list goes on. Overall, on my worst days I was still developing motorcycles with a fine group of people. Not too bad.

I'm sure you're all wondering what it's like at the factory right now and all I can tell you that it is obviously a pretty somber mood. But with that said, what you see more than anything else is a family of people supporting each other and talking about what a ride it's been. What isn't there is a bunch of finger pointing and animosity. There are more than a few tears being shed and people have their opinions of course but mostly what you see is a group of people rising above their circumstances and figuring out how to dust themselves off and get back at it. You'll hear people talking and saying things like "I'll be okay, I'm worried about everybody else" and that's something special that you just don't see every day and I'm proud to be a part of it.

With all that, I have to say a great big thank you to all of you that have posted so many kind words. It's been amazing to see the outpouring of well wishes from all of you. I've actually spent a pretty good chunk of time reading what all of you have written and while it's hard to read sometimes, it's a great reminder that I was a part of something very special and for that I sincerely thank all of you. I hope all of you some day get the chance to do something even half as special as this has been for me.

Thanks to everyone involved for making this an experience of a lifetime.

Thank you for posting.

I've written so much on here over the last three days that I think I've said it all.

Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of the team along with your families.

Thank you for making some of the most innovative bikes in the world, and MOST CERTAINLY the best American motorcycle on the planet.

Anonymous, I am so happy a guy like you, who loved his job so much, most likely put my baby together. I'm torn...do I ride the wheels off of it (that was my intention and buy the next generation model when it came out), or tuck her in as a collectors item?
This is my struggle. I appreciate you and your co-workers, real Americans putting American sport bikes together for us! I truly wish there was something I could do or say.But I will say this, I LOVE MY BIKE!!!!!!

We shall gather unto us all the elves and shall set forth to rebuild the workshop complete with the magic hammers and enchanted saws. We will gather you from the north and the south, the east and the west.

We will call upon you to once again create the magical toys that brought such joy to all the girls and boys.

In the end, we shall see "Santa" smile one again and Christmas will return to the land.

The Winter Warlock can't keep Chris Cringle and his elves down.

just returned from Anony's house. Decided to skip the football game. Not much talk about who, what, when, where or why. But that's OK.
I know Anonymous means what they wrote. Job is/was more than one could ever hope to do.
And I know the thoughts and thanks mean a lot to all of them.
However, they ask that you limit your consumption of "magic mushrooms" to just 4 on a Friday evening. Get the hint Ft bstrd!?

BTW FB, just giving you my daily dose of hassle.

Actually, he doesn't look anything like Santa.
I'm not sure why the guy on a Uly said that.

I just realized I didn't thank anyone.
So thank you, all Buell employees.
I am very proud to call some of you my friends.
Erik. Thank you for showing the world that Wisconsin isn't just full of cows and farmers. There are bright, innovative thinkers and doer's right here.
Thank you and all your staff for inspiring my 14 year old Son. I have no doubt in my mind that he will become an engineer, and maybe even work for and with some there that he knows and has grown to admire. He's a talented kid that thinks "outside the box" just as yourselfs. He has been literally designing motorcycles for as long back as I can remember, and improving with age.
Henry. Thanks for supporting us at the track. You are a credit to Buell. And I am so glad you got to see your work pay off with the AMA Championship this year.
And to my friend Anonymous. Thanks for your friendship. Your help. Your ability to keep secret things secret no matter how much I pressured you for inside information. Hell. You STILL won't tell me what was to come!!
I hope to continue being your friend. I know how much you loved working at Buell and it really does break my heart to know that you're down about it.
You really did have a great job there. And you got to ride so many bikes...and get paid for it!!?? Hell, that ain't work!!!!

All Buell employees. Keep your heads held high. Know that this decision made by H-D was not of your making. You should all be proud of what you accomplished. It's too bad H-D doesn't see it. But I have a feeling they will feel it. Sooner rather than later.

Thank you all. You made Wisconsin and America proud. And don't let anyone tell you different.

Rocco
