Getting calls back from dealers:

-they claim that the 2010 production, which ends EOM, OCT 30th, is already spoken for. So many dealers will get 2010 models if they had them ordered or called for them LAST friday. so basically anyone that wants a bike has to get it from a dealer that HAS a bike in stock or a bike on the way.

-i've got quotes for 2009 leftover xb12Ss and xb12Scg ranging from $8172 to 8700 OUT THE DOOR prices, depending on model and color. I was hoping for better deals than this.

-1125r and 1125cr have the 5k rebates..so basically $6600 plus tax/freight/prep..incredible.(if you want a 1125 that is)

i suspect deals may get better in the coming months as dealers take delivery and its late fall/early winter and if the bikes arent moving. one dealer has sold half their buells TO EMPLOYEEs at the dealership. so i dunno how much demand from regular public there is gonna be. i am interested but only if the price is down below 7k, which should be doable. if retail is 10k, used to be you could buy bikes for 8k anyway...and rebates are $3k so i was hoping for 5k+tax+freight+prep deals.

Are the 1125's cheaper to build?

I think some are leary of the 1125 because of its new-ness....does that make sense? XB's are proven.

I got a 09 XB12ss for $6700.00...no freight, no setup and paying the tax at the DMV when I plate it . They had 1125r's for $4995.00 !

Nice article!
"HD is going to expand the brand leveraging it's unique strengths." , What do we mean by that? Everyone knows the brand and we're going to tap into the power.....??? what?? you didn't say a fr*gging thing? that's a non sequitur.

I wish someone interviewing would push harder to get an answer. They regurgitate the silly corporate mandated buzz words to pretend they're on top of the situation. Saying in such a way that makes them sound important without saying anything.

"leverage the brand" that's just stupid. "leverage it?" that means you're going to add the name to disposable diapers in the aging demographic? You have mugs, that liquid is going to go someplace.

They're not using the words together to mean what they think they mean. Brand leveraging is to take an existing product name and enter it into a new but related category - that's it!
Tap the power of the brand and expand it further???? more models? "leverage again into something similar??? like sport bikes???? oh, you did that but I guess that meant something else... motorized shopping carts? That's in another thread... I like the addition of ape hangers.

silly HD suits!

I don't know why, but I'd noticed the same thing here before last weeks announcement.

IMO the American engine is more expensive than the European one. Crazy, isn't it?

it's kind-of sad, but if a whole bike were entirely produced here - all of the chrome, lighting, shock, sheet goods and materials etc. etc. like a Harley that's now more than 50% parts overseas (I actually read 85%), except the engine and assembly, it would probably cost 3-times as much.

Low labor and manufacturing cost of those off shored parts from developing economies.
I was watching a documentary once and it showed all of the NEW YORK CITY manhole covers being cast and shipped to the US in one of these developing countries by barefoot iron workers. Molten iron getting poured, sparks all over the place - bare feet, no OSHA - just is wrong on many levels.

I went on the 1125R board and found out there is a $5,000 rebate on the 1125Rs and a $3,000.00 rebate for the XBs
