So as I said before I stopped at H-D today no doubt I can get a CR for dirt cheap but I got to thinking. I don't want HD to make another penny off Buell motorcycles or me I wish Erik could buy em all and resell em I would buy one from him for thousand more than a can buy one from harley happily if it would help keep em going I can buy one for under 8K right now I would give Erik Buell 9K for the same machine even if it carried a used title as he would resell it. |

a good point was made... if possible buy from a well know pro-Buell dealer. They are out there. HD corp has already made their money from selling the bikes to the dealer I'm sure. And let the dealer know that you're coming to them because they were loyal to Buell in the past. |

It's too bad that this attitude didn't exist before the announcement. Unfortunately, bargain shopping and cutting the legs out from under the local dealership contributed to the state we find ourselves. We have met the enemy, and they are us. |

It's the Joni Mitchell Syndrome, "don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you got 'til it's gone." |

This is like my last relationship. All of a sudden I find out it isn't working and was never given a hint that it was over. I spoke with a sales guy ay Hal's just moments ago and he seemed to be suprised as well. Said they were getting a lot of calls regarding $3000 - $5000 incentives and such. Said it was NOT true. though he was talking about $9000 + tax and title on a 09 ss. He said this is a big shock to a lot of the "lower" levels as well. I asked him if this was some sort of PR stunt and he seem honest when he said he did not think so. Just sharing. |

Everyone wanted a "good deal" on their Buell. Well. Here y'go. Happy now? |

Just a little side note here - the bikes that are currently in the dealerships? H-D already got the money for that. I mean, technically, they may be on floorplan depending on the dealer, but buying a bike on the floor doesn't put any more money into H-D's pockets. The dealer already paid Harley for those. So, technically, all you're doing is supporting a dealership who may have been trying their best to support the brand all along. Don't know which dealer you're talking about, so I can't speak to specifics. Just throwin' that out there. A lot of people are pissed at Harley - I get that - but I feel like us dealers, even the ones who've supported Buell for a long time, are getting tossed out with the washwater. (Is that a real saying? Did I make that up?) So please, if you see a good deal on a good bike, think about taking it, and be secure in the knowledge that you're not helping make H-D one cent richer. ->ChelleM Liberty Buell Yes, we have Buells. Yes, now is a GREAT time to get a deal. And yes, I kinda have to agree with the above comment. People are getting what they wished for - in an evil-genie kinda way. Great deals to be had by all. *sigh* |

"Unfortunately, bargain shopping and cutting the legs out from under the local dealership..." While I don't often disagree with FB, I do draw the line here. It assumes that one is only shopping against Buell. That is BS! Many buyers are shopping other brands against Buell's offerings. The brand that offers the best options at the best price wins. Those options may include the fact that it is an American company, it was for me. If a brand cannot compete it will lose market share and either get more hungry or drop out. Getting the best buy for your money doesn't make me my worst enemy, it makes me a smart buyer. Making a product that satisfies the customer's needs while making profit is what makes a smart company. I see this in Ford Motor Company and wish them the best in improving market share. At this point I cannot say the same for H-D. |
