H-D waited about 6 months then came out with a H-D badged Buell?
Would you support it?

I was thinking that as well

H-D.X

Maybe they just want to drop the Buell name....

I really don't think that is the case. None of the actions HDI has taken seem consistent with rebranding strategy.

It is possible that HD is developing a completely different bike. A few publications have eluded to HD working on a new V4 motor.

That makes no sense. They could have re-badged the brand without forking out all the money to pay off Rotax et al.

Personally it wouldn't go over well with me. It would look like HD stabbed Erik in the back, even more than it does now.

The Harley badged sportbike would be what a VRod is to an 1125R.

Maybe a nice bike, but not a sport bike.

Harley's already had it's hand in the Buell parts bin - and the result was the XR1200.

From the Q&A link on Buell's home page:

Are any of the brand’s models going to be available as Harley-Davidson models?

Harley-Davidson has no plans to produce Buell motorcycles as Harley-Davidson products.

It looks like HD is trying to dance with who brung them.....the chrome crowd.

Nothing against HD motorcycles. They just aren't my cup of tea.

Maybe H-D didn't sell Buell because they MAY want to resurrect it once the economy comes back around.

"What if" Buell Motorcycle company and MV Agusta was bought up by a rich financier and put into a single dealership offering two of the absolute best sport bikes in the world. A four with Italian heritage and a V-twin with American heritage. Out of sight! I believe that would be my kind of dealership I have always wanted given what many of us had at HD dealerships.

At any rate I will always be riding my 1125R until my demise and be thankful that there was a man with "vision". I hope another will come along to partner with two of the best motorcycles there ever was.

I'll be riding Sunday and thinking how proud I am to be on such a great bike. Thanks again Erik!
