Not necessarily Buell related, but worth sharing.

Our house is right on the corner of our block, and that corner just happens to be a school bus stop. So the other morning there were three boys between the ages of eight and ten, I would say, rough housing like little boys do.
Now being the patriotic family that we are, Sleez and I put our flag out on the house every day. On this particular day, I took the flag out with me as I went out to start the truck. As soon as I walked out the front door, the boys fell silent, I assumed that they just postponed the rough housing until the adults weren't looking any more. Much to my surprise, after putting the flag up and turning away, I heard three little voices start to say the pledge of allegiance. I thought at first maybe it was a joke, they were being brats and making fun, but all three recited the entire thing, very seriously. My heart just melted. I told Sleez when he got home and he thought it was a sweet story, so I just thought I'd share it with the rest of you. I guess they must still be teaching our kids "something" in school these days.

My bet is that they were Boy Scouts or something like that.

Cool story!

There are good kids out there, hopefully being taught the essential things.

We may argue the politics, but we support our United States Of America.

Kudos to the kids, and you, Lady, for sharing. See if you can replicate the incident, make it a habit for the little buggers.

: )

On Veterans day, every year, the local grade school has a Veteran's day celebration. Each of the grades sings one of the military branch (Army, Airforce, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard) songs/hymns which they have practiced for weeks.

By the time they "graduate" - 5 grades, they know all the songs.

The ceremony last's about a hour - 600+ kids - outside. At the end of the ceremony - they file silently back to class - 600 kids - with barely any sound - spooky/heartwarming/patriotic.

Tears in my eyes - every year.

South Carolina may not lead in education, but we are near/at the top in patriotism.
