I only saw one other bike on the road on my way into work today.
The season is almost over for most "riders"

For some reason, the ride in was worse than usual.
Had a dude decide to do a u-turn in front of me.... and that move almost got me rear ended by the driver behind me...
Had a couple of cars pull out in front of me...
Had a couple change lanes right in front of me at the last minute.... only to drive about 5 mph under the speed limit...

If only a train would have been crossing at the set of tracks next to work.... It would have been a PERFECT ride to work day!

I don't know if it's gotten worse in the past few years, but it seems like more of this has been occuring in our area. So much so that I had been thinking about getting off the street. I was tired of being pulled out of in front of, people coming into my lane, and tailgated. Getting rearended pretty much sealed it.
I don't know if there are more drivers now, if the current crop is paying less attention, or if the drivers just don't care anymore but it sucks...I still see the crap while I drive but it doesn't seem to be coming after me anymore-thus I don't know if it's because I'm more visible, or less of a target...

I call them idiot days I think we all have them.
I talked to Fay on the e-mail I would love to meet her at the CIW next year she sounds like a really cool lady! A lady with a lot of GUTS! She told me how tall she is 5'3" I wouldn't have even looked at buying a ULY if I was an inch shorter!

We are still working on getting her bike lower. I think it can be done...

I ride with my high beams on during day light hours...
I changed my bike from black to white....
I have a black and grey and white jacket on...

all I ask is... SHARE THE ROAD!

There's two really dangerous seasons here to ride. Early Spring, when people aren't looking for bikes yet and Fall when people aren't looking because they think its too cold to ride motorcycles.

yea, sucks to live in columbus. last time i was up on the ultra, had some old lady that just got onto the beltway at the south end and just kept on moving over into my lane like i shouldn't have been there. and when i pulled along side of her she flipped me off. another time up there on the cyclone, went to take off at a stop light and some a$$hat went through the red light and looked at me like i was in the wrong. i know miami is bad but columbus beats them when it comes to bikes sharing the road.

It certainly does happen every where though. I was only just saying yesterday, that I think all drivers conspire to perform the same stupid crap on a given day. There are slow days, days for cutting people off, zoom zoom days and not paying attention/watching for anything days.
I have had a guy pull into the lane with me. When I tapped on his door he didn't even flinch, just sped up a little so I couldn't get in front of him.
Had a guy try and run me off the road (given I flipped him the finger, which was a bad choice of reaction to his tosserish behaviour!)But he was pushing all the cars around him and being a total tool to start with.
Even had a guy watch me in his rear view and then just hit the brakes right in front of me
When I am on the road, I watch for bikes ALL the time, because I know nobody else seems to. Sometimes it feels like you are rolling the dice getting on the bike. I usually breath a little better when I hear Chili's bike coming home safely at night too.

sounds like idiot season all over the world.

last week on Monday i was heading to work in the afternoon (3:30 pm start), i stopped at a pedestrian crossing behind a car, next thing i know im on the deck, a woman in a car had come out of a side turning and bumped the back of my bike (bmw f800 i use for commuting) . picked myself up, got the bike over to the side of the road, the the b!7ch drives off!!! i didn't get the reg no, but someone else there got a description of the car, but no news from the police yet. broken front brake lever and bent right handlebar

2 days later some old guy decides he wants to be in my lane, and just turns across in front of me, i hit throttle to get in front of him then pull back alongside and proceed to give him a mouthful of "where'd you learn to drive? school for the blind? you dumb4$$"

2 more days later (is this some kind of sequence?) going home from work at 11 pm following a car down a narrow road (cars parked each side, nowhere to pass), the car just stops then goes into reverse!!. me on horns (stebels rule). guy stops, gets out and tells me he missed his turn and wants to go back, even tho the next turn (100 yards away) will get him the same road. i tell him that, he gets in cars and wheelspins away, cos i was not going to back up for an idiot

almost time to get a rocket launcher fitted front and rear

I have a hard time reading some of these post.... not because I'm from West Virginia.... But, because my blood starts to boil thinking about what has happened to other riders... how I would feel if it was me....

and the ride home... I've already got my thumb on the HORN!

The worst for me was that car that crossed a foot in front of me in the center lane, diving for the far right lane from the far left lane. I didn't even have time to think, let alone honk. Just one more foot and I'd have been thrown down and possibly run over by the car behind me. What's eerie about that is that I thought just seconds before it happened that I didn't want to pull up alongside that car because they might pull something crazy like that, and lo and behold...

You want to make that driver understand just what they've done to you rather than amble on in their stupidity. As far as it depends on me, I just try not to give them the chance to take me out. Other times, you just hope an angel rests on your shoulder.

Wolf...I call those days "Butt pucker days"

I had a day like that sometime last year. I had a big stork type bird take the low lane across my path. If I was 6' rather than 5'7 I would have had bird for breakfast. Later on the same road I had a two by four drop out of a pick up to where I had to dodge the car in front of my that slammed on the brakes and then dodge the two by four. And later in the day pulled my first ever stoppie to prevent myself from t-boning a stoner who was not paying attention.

Butt pucker days!!
My commute is mostly country roads. Deer, turkey, raccoon, assorted animals...better or worse than cagers?

The wildlife does not know how to use turn indicaters either.
