"Lemonchili...yah know there is a musician that I consider to be one of the best in his style....that used to be in air conditioning before his boss encouraged him to step up.

That man is Travis Tritt..if you haven't heard him before...look it up...definately worth a listen."

Thanks, there's hope for me yet! : ) Someone has mentioned him to me before, but I don't think I ever checked out his tunes, I will do so tonight. Vamps is a country fan so probably knows who he is.

Who else had or expects a good day ahead?
Just submitted a smokin' hot price for a project up the coast, I'm expecting a good day : )

And you can always tell when you've spoken inconvenient truth to a far right conservative whack-job; they become utterly unhinged and commence with the personal attacks like calling someone a "far left liberal whack-job." Then they commence with dogmatic recitation of the things they heard on talk radio or Fox News.

we can all see the problem there it's talk radio (Rush Limbaugh) and Fox News (tabloid news made-up for the purpose of selling advertising). Try doing what I did three years ago, I got rid of the boob tube and don't listen to political radio programs because I would rather ride my motorcycle than listen to all that B.S.

From the department of labor...

Umm, that chart and links are about weekly initial jobless claims. The Court quote I took issue with is: "There were 550,000 more folks out of jobs last month.", not last week.

Look at the chart. It goes back to 2004 and weekly initial jobless claims were 300,000+ at that time. But what if 400,000 people were hired in those weeks? What is the net? Around 100,000 jobs added. Not too bad.

Weekly initial jobless claims are not a good measure of the overall jobs outlook. 550,000 jobs could be lost in a week but if 2,000,000 people were hired in that week it would be an awesome jobs outlook. Maybe not for those 550,000 folks who lost their jobs, but still. What was the net last week? I have no idea and neither do you or Court. The full jobs report is never released weekly, it is always released monthly. The last time it was released there was a net loss of 216,000 jobs, the lowest since August 2008. The next full jobs report will be released on Friday.

No way! Fox News is totally factual. Did you know that the Pledge of Allegiance is no longer allowed in public schools? I didn't either! But Fox News reported it so it's gotta be true!

I kind of envy Rush Limbaugh listeners and Fox News viewers. They need to have stuff made up for them to get mad about. I wish I could be so contended that I would need to make stuff up in order to get mad. That sounds like paradise!

I loved what I was doing before I got the Lay Off eleven months ago. I have applied to 200 jobs in my field, with five interviews... still no job in sight... except maybe some part time unskilled work to get by.

I am looking into graduate schools now but also a skilled trades program becuase there is no telling what is going to happen and where I will be.

It is getting old already. I turn 42 TODAY and never thought I would be unemployed and broke at this point in my life. Last summer I was starting to plan to buy my first house.

I have never really enjoyed what I am currently doing, but since my dad and I own the company it affords me a TON of freedom and flexibility. The economy has hit us very hard tho, and there's barely enough to pay our mortgages right now. I might become a Manny for a very cute 3 year girl a coupe of days a week soon...that would be a cool change of pace! My girlfriend is a nanny, and her best friend does daycare for her kids and 2 other families- they all do field trips on thursdays, which would be one of the days I would nanny. the other day would be Fridays, which she goes to preschool...so pretty easy there too!

And "Whatever"- I'm 32 and never thought I'd be broke right now either! I own a house, and thankfully owe nothing to anyone else so I am sitting ok for now. Just be glad you didn't buy a house when the market was good, making you upside down on that now!

I work three jobs, the full-time, MSF and teaching at a senior center. When times were flush, the Senior gig paid well and I arranged for a house, college for the kids, etc. When times crashed in 2007, the senior gig dropped by 50 percent and a nother 50 percent in 2008.

This year it's been furloughs at work and paycuts. The senior gig is up a bit, but everytime I catch up my bills to current, the company furloughs me again.

I'm surviving. I love my jobs, but I never thought I'd be 51 and busting butt at three jobs just to pay bills.

Of course, my 53-year-old, retired police Lt., Senior Chief in the Navy Reserve brother never thought he'd be in Afghanistan two months before his military retirement attached to the 82nd Airborne, either.

Life.

A Kentucky Sheriff stops at a farm in rural Kentucky and talks with an old farmer.
He tells the farmer, "I need to inspect your farm for illegally grown drugs."

The old farmer says, "Okay, but don't go in that field over there."

The Sheriff verbally explodes saying, "Mister, I have the authority of the Sheriff’s Department with me." Reaching into his rear pants pocket and removing his badge. The officer proudly displays it to the farmer.

"See this badge? This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish...on any land. No questions asked or answers given. Have I made myself clear?
Do you understand?"

The old farmer nods politely and goes about his chores..

Later, the old farmer hears loud screams and spies the Sheriff running for
his life and close behind is the farmer's bull.
With every step the bull is gaining ground on the officer. The Sheriff is clearly terrified..

The old farmer immediately throws down his tools, runs to the fence and yells at the top of his lungs.....

"Your badge!
Show him your badge Smartass!"

I know times are crazy! I had hoped to get a position as an Environmental Inspector with WI National Guard... I scored #2 of 53 on the civil service exam. They told me Wednesday they chose someone else. Probably a WIARNG member. I can't compete with that as a civilian.

Maybe for the better... my prospective boss was so hot he made me sweat... oh well at least I had some "eye candy" for an hour.

Dear Bill,

And you can always tell when you've spoken inconvenient truth to a far right conservative whack-job; they become utterly unhinged and commence with the personal attacks like calling someone a "far left liberal whack-job." Then they commence with dogmatic recitation of the things they heard on talk radio or Fox News.

And yes Blake...

It would be sad if it weren't so darn hilarious.

Was there a topical issue in there that you were wanting to address? If so, I missed it.

You're operating devoid of knowledge and have interjected yourself where you are not wanted.

You need educating. Here is the summary for dummies: John (M2me) has a long history here rife with disrespectful commentary; his 100% loyal shilling, no matter what, for the left wing of the Democratic party is exceptionally well-documented.

You may not like it, but my response to him was well-warranted given his long history here, his disrespectful behavior, and his initiation of personal attack that was WAY out of line, totally uncalled for, and a blatant violation of our terms of use.

Why you felt the need to interject yourself is beyond me.

You even seem to think that you know intimately my political views, and imagine they coincide with those of right wing talk radio.

Some may, some absolutely do not. Try again

I don't listen to talk radio. I take information from all sources and vet it's validity through systematic logical analysis. Sometimes the NY Times and MSNBC get it right. Sometimes they blatantly ignore news inconvenient to their ideology. Sometimes they willfully misrepresent a story in order to twist it to support their particular way of thinking.

Not sure why you attacked me personally.

Please, if you have an example of ANY information that I've posted that is inaccurate or only half true, show it.

However, if all you have to add to the discussion is unwarranted personal attack, you'll soon be shown the door.

If you don't like the way I address disrespectful, partisan scoundrels like M2me here, you should depart, because I'm not about to change anytime soon. BadWeB is not and never will be a platform for disrespectful partisan shills to spew their bile and propaganda.

But congratulations, now you too have sunk to the level of pure personal attack, offering nothing, zero, naddo in the way of content concerning the issues.

This is the kind of miserable crap that ruins and otherwise good discussion thread.

Please avoid it in the future.

I interjected myself because it is theoretically an open forum where people post into conversations they find interesting. I also didn’t interject my views into the thread until it had already been derailed into yet another partisan political tangent.

Interjected where I wasn’t wanted? Is there a list where unwanted people can find their names before weighing in on an issue?

I think the problem Blake, is that the board is rife with "disrespectful partisan shills" who are tolerated because you share their political views.

I merely mirrored your statement back to you. It was no more a personal attack than your statements. In fact, it was much more moderate, and directed at a general group of people, not at anyone in particular.

It was an observation about right-wing political whack-jobs and their response to being cornered in a conversation. You find people hilarious that you feel are left wing “whack-jobs.” I find right-wing political “whack-jobs” hilarious in exactly the same way.

It's a valid observation from a different perspective.

If that gets a person banned from Badweb, then it really isn't a forum for discussion. It's a place to post rhetoric.

That would be a shame because other than that one issue this is probably one of the nicest online communities I have been a part of.

There are many different kinds of "miserable crap" that ruin otherwise good discussion threads.

Yep, exactly why we come to a sportbike discussion board.

Religion, Sex, Politics, Solving all of society's problems, trading insults because we're discovering inexcusable "ignorance" on the part of others.

...oh and also to read all the latest cut-and-paste thinking on the part of people too lazy to check sources (most of which is months-to-years old).

I've got another 10 minutes for the battery to charge then it's up to the Angeles Crest to see if the road is opened between Wrightwood and Newcomb's Ranch.

Gonna be nice

Meanwhile all you sportbikers can continue trying to solve all the world's problems and beating each other over the heads for being so "wrong."

IT's good to know that we have such experts working on it all while the rest of us are riding and getting on with our lives.

When you all have the world's problems solved and have convinced all the "other side's" ignorant folks of the rightness of your opinion, please PM me and point me to the thread here on Badweb that has all the answers so I don't waste so much of my time searching for enlghtenment.

No doubt my local representatives will be delighted to know that they won't have to solve any issues since we've got the sportbikers working on it.

I too have noticed a lot more expression of opinion in the past few months. However, it's not confined to just a few threads or specific forums. It seems to me that our country is more politically divided than it has been since the civil war. Or, as we Southerners prefer to call it; "The War of Northern Aggression". I find it interesting that the same issues that divided us then, seems to be the same issues that divide us now( as a southerner I was taught that government oppression was more of an issue than slavery). I am proud to live in a country where we can voice these differences publicly without fear of government suppression (so far). I doubt that most people who want a strong government realize the dangers. Perhaps a better education in history would enlighten some. Be that as it may, I expect to hear a lot more bickering for the time being, although hopefully, it won't progress past words.
As for the original thread subject, I have not worked in my profession (construction electrician) since last year and am growing tired of barely getting by and depending on family to help support me. If there were other options available for me, I would probably change career paths. Not that electrical work is bad, I just think it's not a job I can be passionate about, or look forward to every day for the next 20 years.

Funny thing about teaching history... it doesnt necessarily mean teaching the facts.

A friend mine age grew up in Seattle public schools, they would not teach the Civil War because it was 'culturally insensitive' to their diverse student population. (this was 20 years ago, they have not gotten any better in their 'political correctness' since)

I am simply utterly amazed. How long before they quit teaching about the Holocaust, the Trail of Tears, the Soviet Purges, The Iran Hostage Situation, Ethnic Cleansing in Bosnia, ...etc? We wouldnt want to upset anybody, so lets not talk about it, lets not teach it, and for heavens sakes lets not argue about it : O

Your tax dollars hard at work. Want to know how the new 'health care' will work and succeed? Look no further than what public American Education is today.

Among the unemployed, the number of job losers and persons who completed temporary jobs rose by 603,000 to 10.4 million in September.

The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks and over) rose by 450,000 to 5.4 million.

From: http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm

Court's number was accurate and M2me is full of shit, as usual.

Time for the Backfire Board?

It's getting there, but I've noticed a trend. It seems lately that often when someone posts informatively and counter to the far left socialist agenda, a bomb thrower steps in and pollutes the thread causing it to be removed from public view to the Backfire Board. For the far lefties, that is mission accomplished in that they've succeeded in squelching valid opposition to their socialist agenda.

I think all right-thinking people are sick and tired of being told that ordinary decent people in this country are fed up with being sick and tired. I'm certainly not, and I'm sick and tired being told that I am!
