I still think Buell should put the Revo motor in a faired sub-500 lb sport tourer with standard riding position, and hard bags.

Crusty-

Not to distact your excellent topic here but be careful about counting on big savings with a high-efficiency furnace.

I replaced a 25yr-old conventional furnace that was estimated to be 40% efficient with a Pulse, 96%. After a couple of years of comparing bills I may have saved $10/month. Since it only runs about 5 months, it's hard to justify.

The only concession would be if you have a big, old, not real efficient house or if you just want to get the most efficient.

Those MVs are beautiful bikes.

Mike, my furnace is old and it has gotten kind of undependable.(Two weeks ago, it wouldn't shut off) Two different HVAC people have advised me to upgrade. I don't know how much I'll save, but I get a $1500.00 tax credit from the IRS, and a $400.00 rebate from the gas company. That alone gets me an Energy Star heating system for under two grand.(after I get my tax refund and rebate check).
Those MVs are beautiful bikes. The Norge isn't exactly a dog, either.

That's an accurate statement. From Maria's Facebook page . . . . is she a Buell rider? . . I'll leave that to you to discover.

: )

Thanks for your impressions Crusty, nice write up : )
How are the Guzzi's for stock? Will you have to order and wait for one, or are they in stock?

Crusty,

If the bike moves you buy it. There's no reasonable explanation for any bike purchase. Passion is the only thing that really counts.

My Vic has a clunky transmission, it's hard to get into neutral, eats front tires(21") like a bitch. It seemed to take me forever to really get a handle on the rake and the steering considering I went from a VFR to a cruiser. But now that I've had it all over the country and have developed a relationship with the bike I don't think I'd own anything else. Sure there's faster, smoother, better handling bikes but there's none with the personality of my Vic.

The early days of Buell did see a lot of clubs come and go. I started with PACBOG and considered ATC. I believe Jay had the best intentions in mind when he started the club. But, when I met him person at Homecoming his attitude towards his competitors sealed the deal, I would never join. He claimed he was the only person running a Buell club that knew how to run it like a business and laughingly boasted his knowledge and relished at the failure of the other clubs. He was drunk, as was I, but his words never left my memory. I can only speak to my own passion for riding and, at the time, Buells. I never encountered his passion that night.

A lot of dollars and hours were poured into Buell passion above and beyond Erik's and the factory's investment. Most of those clubs are long since gone and barely known to many who hang here. But I remember those days when everything was new and to be discovered... the new friends, learning the bikes, heading off into adventure... I still have all that. Thanks Erik & Ferris.

Graham; the dealer has a new '07 Norge in stock that he's offering me a really good deal on. I'm not real big on the color (silver), but I know this painter in Tennesee, and once I get a few bucks ahead, I bet he could turn out a hell of a paint job for a reasonable price.

Crusty, I would keep it the silver color. I once had a motorcycle painted and it was never the same. Hard to maintain the finish and I hated it! I ended-up trading it away for a huge loss.

A bit off topic, but to address the furnace issues...a system is only as efficient as the installation will allow.

Nearly 80% of all residential HVAC systems suffer from air side deficiencies...a duct system that "worked" with an old system, has not a snowball's chance of delivering max efficiency with a modern system.

A gas furnace must also be properly set up for best burner efficiency...I can't count how many times I have seen a furnace that had not been set up for the gas it will be using...

The final thing about saving money...the warmer you run the house, the more gas it consumes...similar conditions apply to the A/C mode...some people save a ton of money, some save less...
