Remember when I posted I broke a bone in my foot and we all had a laugh (me too) about it? Well I'm not laughing now. I just came from the Podiatrist office with this great big boot on my foot. She said it’ll be 3-4 MONTHS before it heals and even then it may take surgery to fix it up. Seem I did a real number on it broke a bit of the bone off and it may have to be screwed back. Or not she can’t tell. Even if it does heal she pointed out the bone may form a “Spur” and rub on my shoes and boots and need to be trimmed. She wanted to put me in a cast BUT how do I drive my car them…it’s a stick? And I can’t just go out and buy a new car right now. So I guess I’ll buy a battery conditioner hook both bikes to it and dump a bottle of Sea Foam in and be back next year. Remember RIDE it, DON’T wash it…not as dangerous! If you do wash it NO Flip Flops! Birdy |

Which foot? Right foot, no problem. Left foot, you gotta get creative. We have a racer at Willow who is diabetic and has NO left foot. He has something rigged up for shifting. Should be doable... but busted bones SUCK regardless - BUMMER. |

Electric shifter is available. Put a floorboard on it. |

I passed a guy last week that had a rope tied to the shifter . He would pick his leg up and drop it on the shifter to down shift and yank the rope to up shift. Rick |

It's the left foot and while I can take the boot thing off she put on, in fact she told me to do so to drive the car, shower and at night and if it was raining. I'll try and act "All Grown Up" (for once anyway, hard to do on a Buell) and NOT ride. She fears me doing more damage by just walking wrong and I can see dropping the bike and really tearing it up. So for once I'll do what the Doctor tells me to do. I mean I miss out for a couple of month before winter now OR next year if I ride and get hurt worse? Birdy Yes Damn It, acting all grown up sucks! |

They are right about shifters being available, I wouldn't be able to ride without one. Just be thankful that you got a riding season this year! Mine has been postponed repeatedly and the end looks like it'll get here too late for me to get in any riding this year. Trust me, I know how much being a gimp sucks! (and mine is permanent!) |

I can see dropping the bike and really tearing it up. I did that a couple weeks ago after my cast was cut off. I dropped it before I even hit the road and broke the brake lever clean off. It sucks and the patients will eat you up but you'll be better off... |

Dropping the bike every once in a while is simply part of the price I pay to continue riding. I usually have a spare clutch lever and turn signal in my tank bag for just in case. Before I made my own solid mount billet pegs I carried a left side peg too. Rule 1: ATGATT Rule 2: Don't sweat the small stuff, adapt and overcome. |

I'd say the hell with it and heal. Why risk getting hurt again and being out next year too. Besides, take the time to fix and or mod! |

I tried acting all grown up a couple times... it sux but sometimes it just makes sense. Take it easy, heal up well. Talk to her in the garage every once in a while and in the Spring, treat her nice and the two of you will get along just fine. |
