Well, here I am again in the hospital, infection flared up again along my spine
and around spinal stimulator they installed in February.

This is the same thing that kept me from homecoming, except this time they removed
the stimulator from my back completely.

We are hoping that the bacteria was somewhere on the stimulator itself, and by cleaning
the "pocket" it was in thoroughly (feels like a potato fork was the primary tool used)
the infection will be stopped before it causes bone damage, and before it gets into the
morphine pump they installed this past spring.

I'll bee in here until at least Friday, maybe longer depending upon the MRI tomorrow
looking for abcesses along my spine and the results of the cultures they took.

I am in good spirits though, I'm riding the "M-train" (morphine) intraveinously and
doing well while it's doing it's thang.

My wife kept me off the phone and internet until today due to my lack of ability to
censor myself when I was at higher dosages.

I'm certain it will get straightened out, the only real question is how long it will
take
and how far we have to go (surgically) to get it done. A little thing like this CAN'T
stop a force of nature like me. After all, they said I'd never walk again!

I do appreciate all of your prayers and well-wishes, and I hope that the good Karma
reciprocates.

Brian; I hope they get this sorted out quickly.
I'll send as much positive energy your way as I can.
I've got an Idea for this year's Homecoming... (actually, I've got two. One is really cool, but the second has a better chance of realization)
Anyhow; you have to be there. And disinfected. If you don't show up, we might just have to round up a posse and hunt you down. Or somethin'.

Brain, I wish the best for you. I was a neurosurgery nurse years ago and saw so many worrisome situations. Stay on the m-train as long as possible, those idiots who say you'll get addicted don't know what they're talking about. And I think you should post regularly while you are on high doses. We won't be laughing AT you - we'll be laughing WITH you.

What they said!

Have you tried drinking your way out of this situation? I have been told alcohol makes a fine antiseptic, and does a good job as a pain medication. Truth be told, it does not have to be aged 17 years to be functional!so I have heard.

Thanks again guys, as I said before I appreciate all of your well wishes.

I WILL be at homecoming next year. Failure is not an option.

Blake: No tougher than I have to be, stubborn is probably a better word for it.

Etennuly: I hear it doesn't have to be single malt either. (at least not after the
first couple of shots : ))

Single malt, double malt.....we don't need no stinkin' malt. Mason is the name.....corn is the game!

I'm more of an old single malt Scotch man myself...Auchentoshan (Osh-en-tosh-en) 21 year
old is my favorite, it runs around $200 a bottle, but it lasts me a couple of years when
I buy one...if I don't take it to homecoming ; ) so it's easier to justify it to the
wife don't-cha-know

Yes, I've had my share of drinks of white lightning out of mason or ball jars....Missouri is
rural corn growing country after all.

FYI It'susually termed a poly-malt, or "blended" scotch . There are very few scotches made with two malts
It's usually only one, of several of them blended together.

Maybe I'll bring another bottle to next homecoming. I know I'll be in the mood
to celebrate after all of this.

This surgery means I most likely will not get to ride a single mile on my Buell this year.
As soon as I get healed up enough to consider riding, I end up back in surgery.

I hope I'm getting it all out of the way for the next several years all at once.

I'm hanging in there! Like I've said before, if I quit just because things get hard,
how can I ask my kids to push on through in similar situations? I'll have lost all of my
credibility. So I can't give up. I have no choice. My kids come first. Hell, I even
came back from the dead for them....

remind me to tell you about it.

Etennuly, I hate to say it but when i was younger, I'd get early cellulitis about once a year. Once, when I got it I was upset about it and drank a fifth of Jack by myself, woke up the next morning cured.
