I was going around a 90 degree right hand turn, marked at 15 mph I think, I was going 40-45 mph. Not sure, but I think I either hit some fine dirt (dry clay) or I may have caught a foot peg just as my knee woulda scrapped. I may have just lost too much speed and "tucked" the front wheel. What ever the case, no one to blame but me. I don't have a mark on me, but I came down on my shoulder and the right side of my chest is a bit sore.

My hodge podge of gear, (Buell Mesh jacket, Cortech HRX series 2 pants, Buell boots and Teknic gloves) all did their jobs, and my Shark helmet never hit the ground thankfully.

Working on the pics right now.

Looks like the pods did a good job protecting the frame!

I'm glad you're OK. I'm heading out in just a few minutes. Thanks for the reminder of why we wear the gear.

Glad to hear you're O.K. Makes me look at ATTGATT a bit closer than my current SOGSOTT protocall. (Some Of the Gear, Some Of The Time).

Put 'er back together, and roll on!

Most of the plastics will buff out, and Traction grips are cheap. Get some axle sliders and be glad you left the "superflous human being" pegs on. You got off easy. Wear your scuffed armor with pride, it's got character now.
The hardest fix is going to be the shield sticker: only one per household, haha.

Check your brake lever, and get back on it and ride. Wash the dirt off and ride some more. You may be stiffer tomorrow. Ice the shoulder. Tylenol prior to bed tonight. Gear looks a lot better than you would have. Still sorry to hear it.

Holy smokes, glad you are ok. Looks like the bike held up rather well. Good luck and make sure you get some rest and stretch everything out to help with any swelling and aches.

I rode it home. I had a mini bungee cord under the seat that I used to keep the mirror from floppin around. I'll spray it off tomorrow, but I think the clutch cover puck did it's job.

I am quite impressed with the pods.

Thank you Buell for not caving to the form over function crowd.

I'm very glad to be reading and seeing pics showing that you and your bike are alright : )

Glad you're OK and the bike doesn't look too bad. Bet it's back on the road in short order and won't soak ya either to do so. Buells have to be the cheapest bike crash there are. (just don't ask OK)

I am thrilled you were wearing the right gear . . . there have been 3 fatalities within blocks of my house the last 5 days.

I have to weave my way through the photos of young kids and candles on the sidewalks.

If they'd been wearing gear (and had their head out of their young asses) they too would be posing on the internet looking for turn signals.

Well done having the right gear.

By the way . . one of them was wearing one of those Harley-Davidson half helmets . . . if he'd had my 10 year old Arai he'd be fine . . .but the photo I have of him is under a bed sheet in the middle of Forest Avenue with his skull crushed like a pineapple where the Toyota that was behind him when he did the stupid wheelie ran over him.

glad you are ok and big big bonus point to you for wearing your gear, bonus points payed out in skin still attached and breath in your lungs!

give your lid a thorough look over and if it is even scratched send it to the manufacturer for an inspection and pick up another one for now. scorpion lids are fairly cheep and both dot and Snell. I bet some of out sponsoring dealerships would be able to hook you up.

court, its coming up to that time to replace that lid isn't it? check with Arai but I am betting there isn't much life left in it. A helmet is only good for so many years before it becomes unsafe regardless of the condition visually, as the foam breaks down hardens up and the shell becomes brittle.}

It was a good lesson. I learned that I've got more guts than brains or talent. I now know that I won't roll onto a race track even for a school with out a dedicated track bike, and that I also won't turn a lap without full 1 pc leathers and good boots and gloves. My gear held up good for 40-45 mph, but leathers would be needed if something similar happened on a closed course at higher speeds.

Here are some pics of the scene. Nothing obvious on the road, so I think I must not have been off the bike enough, resulting in too much lean angle. I think the peg feeler may have scraped coming out of the small dip in the road, and I must have backed off the throttle instead of giving it more, which caused the front wheel to tuck. It's only a theory cuz I can't remember exactly what I felt first. It's possible that the front tire just lost grip due to bad body positioning and everything hit the ground at once.

The bike ended up off the road about 6 feet to the right of that white reflector stick wheels first up that little hill, I followed it on my side and stood up about half way into the opposite lane.

Delta, not a mark on the helmet. I kept my head up the whole time, watching the bike slide away from me.

Which one ? ? ? . . I have about 9 Arai RX7RR's and two more on the way to be here next week.

But you are right . . . I have a habit of getting attached to them.

The newest one I have is 14 months old and I have it painted for the 25th and don't have guts enough to wear it.

Not to worry . . . I have a pair of Eslick replicas on the way!
