If one wants to do a remote webcast via fast laptop & modem, strictly amateur for a small audience, what is an inexpensive way to have it hosted for live viewing, like a video conference or such.

And minimal requirements for equipment? Does one need a dongle, depending on host? Can it be done from camera through A/V line to a capture device to a fast laptop to a wireless broadband modem and out to the host in a practical fashion? I'm a computer luddite, so I'll ask for advice from ya'll. Should I just ask my 10-year old? He watches iCarly.

Try http://www.stickam.com/ You create an account and send the link to the people you want to view it. I've had good luck with it in the past.

Gents, thanks. That last site offers enough options for a decision. Was talking with someone on another site about doing a live webcast from the salt flats, equipt needed & such. It's one thing to find a host charging $1 per peep if you know how many to expect. Quite another to go viral and wake up with 1M viewers and a substantial bill. The options from stickam.com control that.

Very much appreciated help.

If you don't have Powerpoint data to convey and have an XBOX on either end, the video conference capability could be had at the price of the XBOX camera and a network connection.
