This may end up being a short thread, but who has any experience getting some GOOD motorcycle movies about the Isle of Man, or any post "On Any Sunday" flicks? Or anything? Just jonesing for some movies to watch, still have nothng to ride, the shovel should be up ANY DAY NOW (GRRRRrrrrrr...) HALP me! |

A really good Isle of Man is... "One Man's Island" About a Canadian club racer trying to qualify as a finisher in the Isle of Man TT. Link to his websitehttp://www.onemansisland.com/ Larry |

I've gotten "Long Way Round" through Netflix and I believe they also have "Long Way Down". Not exactly Isle of Man but I enjoyed watching them. -Patrick |

The World's Fastest Indian is a classic. Its not Isle of Man, but a good mc flick. I DVR'd the 2009 Isle of Man TT on HD Theater, I'm gonna watch that tonight. (Message edited by Buellinachinashop on September 03, 2009) |

"On Any Sunday" dated but good. "The Doctor, the Tornado and the Kentucky Kid" and no it's not a porno flick. "Faster" I think it has the same director as "The Doctor..." |

Little Fauss and Big Halsey gives you a look at the late 60's motorcycle race scene. A bunch of little 2-strokes with puny tires is kinda funny and yet cool. |

Don't forget "From Dust to Glory." From the same people who made "On Any Sunday." Amazing coverage of the Baja 1000. "Silver Dream Racer" featuring the Barton-engined bike that has some history with Buell... |

Thanks, all! Now I'm gonna cut-n-paste an email to the GF and make her crazy for a little while. "Fauss & Halsey" I'd love to see- hope Netflix has it. Used to own W.F. Indian, CLASSIC, lent it out, lost it, I'm a loser. Keep 'em coming! |

http://www.surfwisefilm.com/ Surfwise isn't a motorcycle film. As the name implies, it's focused on surfing. A lot of the themes of adventure and freedom are transferable to our sport. If nothing else, it will make you want to quit your job, get on your bike, and see the world. It was on streaming video from Netflix a while ago, but that selection rotates, so I don't know if it's still there. The disk is available though. |

Also on Netflix: Doctor/Tornado/Kid World's Fastest Bikes (2001) Moto GP Review Series (2001-2008) Moto GP Riding Secrets Moto GP Head to Head (2006) A-Z of MotoGP (2007) There are eight pages of motorcycle movies in the Motorcycles and Motocross genre on Netflix. Sounds like you are gonna be busy. |

+1, "Motorcycle Diaries". Saw that one, great movie, English subtitles, lots of good riding/crashing/breaking down footage. A fictional tale of Ernesto Guevara's youth traveling South America with a buddy on a Norton Single. IIRC, a Norton Atlas. Great movie, great storytelling, won't hurt anyone's feelings to watch a movie about Che Guevara's early days. TRUST me on that. Too good to taint with political funk, just rent, watch and enjoy. (Silly of me to think of even making that point, but not really...) I especially got a kick out of the various wipeouts- better them than me. |

Then came Bronson... Michael Parks. This is the movie that got my entire family riding motorcycles. 1969 movie I think. Hill climb scene is a classic. but the best line is when Bronson's bike is all packed up and he pulls up to a traffic light next to a guy in a station wagon. The guy asks "where ya headed?" "Oh I don't know" "man I wish I could go", "well hang in there" then the light turns green and Bronson rolls on out of town and the adventure begins... Man I just had a moment just thinking back about it while I was typing... I'm going to get on my bike in the morning and head up to Springfield for the Mile. Anybody interested? |

Electra Glide in Blue. underrated police movie, great photography, good acting. While watching "Faster" on my buddies 50" plasma tv, started out leaned back ... realized we both were leaned forward on our respective chairs, leaning & making throttle twitches.... His wife was amused. |

Wild Hogs- feh. At least the actors got a paycheck. The outtakes/DVD extras were more entertaining than the lame-O screenplay. And whenever they went riding, somehow they were always in "perfect" formation, looked goobery. What do you expect from something co-marketed by the HD mothership simultaneously? I'll check out "Electraglide in Blue". Anyone seen "Time Rider"? |
