I'm installing the Rider Comfort Shroud Kit on a Uly. Most of the fasteners have a white residue that I originally thought was thread sealant (Loctite 503 or similar), but on further thought (rare for me) decided it may be anti-sieze instead (since most of said fasteners are going into aluminum).
Instruction sheet doesn't mention applying Loctite or anti-sieze, but I suspect the (referenced) Service Manual procedures do.
A service manual is on the short list of must-haves, but in the mean time if anyone can tell me what to use on these fasteners, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Larry- I'm pretty sure the residue is blue Loctite.

Based on a lot of posts in BB&D, it's best to not use Loctite on any bolts used for electrical ground leads in the tail area, and there are several. Wire brush the bolts clean, apply anti-seize to the threads, and use star-type lockwashers when installing. It's probably a good idea to lightly file or sand the surface of the bosses that they screw into under the tail and the ring lugs on the end of any ground leads as well. Doing this will head off future electrical issues and improves cranking. No more hesitation when the engine hits the first compression stroke.

Blue Loctite should be OK on any other fasteners.

Bolts already wire-brushed; idea for star washers on electrical leads is a good one. Hadn't thought of Loctite as an insulator.

Waiting for JB weld to dry holding front ECM nut to underside of trunk pan (thanks for tip on that, Ratbuell).

IIRC there was actually a service bulletin regarding the star washers.

Good luck with the JB Weld trick; it failed miserably on my install. When the ECM bolt bumped the nut, the nut and the glob of JB Weld popped right out! If you roughened the plastic ahead of time you may be OK.
