...that I've spent on Buells, but I have come to the realization that it's not what I'm looking for right now in a bike.
I have been very loyal and loved all three Buells I have owned but after a couple of the test rides I took this weekend I'm afraid the CityX is going back up for sale.
(I'm a bit worried though because so many are for sale right now.)
I had it for sale a couple of months ago because I thought I might need the cash for home down payment.
I spend every year test-riding about every bike out there but this time it really hit me like a ton of bricks. I rode 2 of the best bikes I have ever been on, the FZ1 and ZX14.
I missed them both last year because they were all booked up so I made sure I was there first thing in the AM to check them out this time. The first one I signed up for was the FZ1 and it was so good I booked another time slot later in the day to confirm what I felt, I thought it was the best real world bike out there. It is a great solo ride and a very capable 2 up short distance sport touring bike.
Then I went to my appointment with the ZX14 and all I have to say is that thing is the "crack cocaine" of all sportbikes.
The even better thing is it is very comfy and would make a great sport tourer, that thing is unbeleiveable!
So I guess what I am saying is I am going to try to score a ZX14 but with me in the middle of moving into a new house I just spent a boatload of money on I may end up wth the FZ1. Either one I would be super happy with.
Now don't get me wrong I will always be a Buell fan but right now I think something like those bikes would be my choice for riding at this time.
I also got to ride a BMW K1200R and a ZX10 that day as well.
So if anyone is looking for a 2005 CityX in great shape check the Classifieds for mine.
God bless you all and I will never go away from this site because I have made some great friends over the years on here, you guys area great group!
I know it may take a while to sell but I'll ride it out and if anyone wants to know specifics about the bikes I rode or my reasons for selling other than the fact the FZ and ZX bikes rock ping me.....
YOU GUYS ROCK!

Have you had a real good ride on the ZX14?

I tested if for my magazine.
Nice bike - wonderful engine, awesome performance and I was frankly a bit under-whelmed by the way it handled.

It's not a twisty roads bike. It's almost the anti-city-X?

Just askin',
best

Dave, I was very surprised in how well it handled. I expected it to be a tank, like the Busa. I won't be seeing much of the speedo at 190, but then again things change. I may end up with the FZ1 anyway.

You may be able to sell your Buell but you're not getting away from BadWeb that easy!
Your previous Buell ownership experiences make you an asset to this board.

I for one will be expecting posts from time to time on the new bike.

Like I said in another thread, You don't have to own a Buell to be a Buell enthusiast : )

Good luck with which ever bike you decide on. May it bring you many thousands of miles of smiles.

Some of it is probably that I'm too tall for it and had trouble moving around with legs tucked up - it's quite short.

I had a black unit for a fortnight. literally made the pulse quicken when I walked into the shed and saw that stealth shape front on and was aware of the surge that was about to happen.

I just had more 'difficulty' chucking it around than the other bikes I had at the time.

I had a very nice run on a Fazer on Friday.

Very impressed by the way that handled and its terminal velocity.

Not as tractable an engine or good low end as the ZX.

And really you couldn't go wrong with either one - except you won't be as cool as us on the Buells ;-P

Buells are very cool!
And guys like I said, I'll never go away.
I've been here too long, I will always be a Buell enthusiast. Erik is a great guy -(got to meet him last year in Daytona)- and don't worry, I'll be back on one sooner or later.
Can't wait for the dirtbikes!!!
DD, I have heard the same comments from tall people regarding the ZX and you are dead on about the FZ. At 5'10 or so the ZX was built for me. Great power and I was on a Blue one.
